Being a former landlord, I know the drill.
Written criteria on what an acceptable candidate for rent needs to show:
That insulates the landlord from any accusation of favoritism/ bias.
Certain minimal credit score
No criminal history
Good references (yes, I always called & checked "would you rent to them again")
Do the math.

That will show your good faith.
It always worked for me.

It’s not always about ability to pay. There is also how likely are they to cause drama, file nonsensical complaints, cause problems, etc.

I�ve had trouble with locking out my tenant from September 2020. I came close last month, but my transitional tenant wanted to stay. I accepted 70K cashiers check for partial payment and made arrangements for the 60K balance.

While I do feel bad for OP, just remember that for landlords, this is a business. Meaning that we will do our due diligence in finding low risk renters. Everything aside away from the site, I would want to know why you are being evicted by your current landlord. An arrest record also is not ideal, but what was it for? Assuming I found your answers acceptable, I would require at least 3 months deposit because of the elevated risk and even then I would only do so if I was desperate to find a renter on a unit that had been empty for months. Not trying to be mean at all, it's just that these are the things I would be considering in any potential renter.
