It is absolutely funny to hear all of the armchair experts come to DJT's defense (or prosecution) when they don't even know what they are talking about. NOBODY knows what they are talking about at this point. Why? Because the indictment is still sealed! Nobody but the prosecution knows at this point what the charges even are, so how can ANYBODY claim that it is unfair, unwarranted, or unfounded? Politically motivated? Maybe, but that is his own doing. He chose to run for president and should have had an understanding of the scrutiny that he would be put under. He chose to alienate the Democrats from the get go, especially in calling them childish names. He made his bed with some pretty despicable behavior, and now he will have to lay in it. I will not come to the defense of someone who has potentially broken the law when I don't even know what the charges are! AFTER the indictment is unsealed and we see what he is actually being charged with then we can all make more informed and intelligent decisions - unless your mind is already made up. And in that case, it is quite evident that you are not really interested in the truth, only tribalism and gang warfare.
I am a Republican and (at least was) a Trump supporter. But DJT should not be afforded any more protection against criminal prosecution than any other citizen in the United States. IF he broke the law he is subject to prosecution - as it should be. IF he broke the law 30 times over then he should be prosecuted 30 times over! To do any less is to allow elitism to not only exist, but to thrive.
I have to believe that any prosecutor is more interested in their own career than prosecuting DJT for some minor offenses that he will probably never serve a day in jail for even if he is convicted. So naturally, prosecutors are not going to even press for a criminal trial unless they feel at least a 90% chance of a successful prosecution. Based on that alone, there would appear to be some substance to the allegation. The Grand Jury's obligation and duty was only to establish that there is probable cause to pursue charges, not to establish guilt or innocence. That comes later at the actual criminal trial. But what are the chances that a jury of pure left leaning citizens will be seated on the jury during the criminal trial? There will be probably be at least one MAGA person on there and it will be interesting to see if they refuse to vote for a conviction based solely on tribal loyalty. Want to see how that works? Just go back and review the O.J. Simpson trial. And you have to believe that every prosecutor for the next 50 years will keep in mind what happened to Marsha Clark's career after she failed to get a conviction on O.J. The prosecution obviously thinks they have an ironclad case, but we will have to wait until at least Tuesday to see if we think they do as well.
We complain about trying people in the press, but that is exactly what we are seeing in these blogs!
And please don't attempt deflection in trying to justify one criminal's actions based on another criminal getting away with the same thing. Don't really give a fuck about what the Biden's, Clinton's, or Obama did - maybe they will have their day in court, maybe not. As a matter of fact, if you want to chastise a former president for egregious, illegal, and felonious actions then look no further than Bush#43 who started an unjust war on false pretenses (WMD's) causing 400,000+ deaths - all because someone threatened to kill his daddy!

^ One of the indications that someone is fanatical is that they take a repudiation of one position as an automatic endorsement of the countervailing position. If you think a Republican has committed a crime then you must obviously be a Democrat. If you think Biden is doing a bad job then you are obviously a Republican. What an absurd proposition. What narrow mindedness! What happened to "Free will and the ability to analyze data and make your own informed decisions?" Apparently, we are in short supply of that these days. Extremism, from any quarter, is a cancer that we see growing at exponential rates right before our eyes. It is literally tearing this country apart. It will not be the Republicans' fault, nor the Democrats; it will be the populace's fault for allowing ourselves to get caught up in "My way or the highway" and "If you're not for us, then you are against us!" mentalities. In regards to using deflection as a means of debate - all I can say is when I see it I immediately think to myself, "If that's all you got - then you got nothing!" I don't view it as a slight or a rebuke, I look at it as a clear indication that the debate is effectively over!

^ I watch all of them, and more, because I want to understand all sides of an argument before making my own informed decision. And an 'informed' decision cannot be made with only one presentation of the facts when we know damn good and well that they are all guilty of bias in their reporting. I find myself sorting through all the garbage just to get to that one nugget of truth that I can probably take to the bank. And I haven't found a podcaster yet that is worth the time to listen to (unless I'm in the market for some supplements!).
