Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the appointment of Matthew Colangelo as new Senior Counsel to the District Attorney. Colangelo, who most recently served as a senior official at the U.S. Department of Justice, will focus on the Office’s cases, policies, and strategies in housing and tenant protection and labor and worker protection, as well as the Office’s most sensitive and high-profile white-collar investigations.
There are no "tea leaves" to read it's in the open but if it's on the News or show

Actually the two primary charges have been leaked to many media sources. Normally in these cases, the lesser ones don't get leaked, so we got "falsifying business records", a misdemeanor normally incurring a fine. Then the most interesting one, that's being used to elevate the first charge to a felony, "campaign finance violation". This latter being the most laughable. Name the last pol that went to jail for this one, again its a "fine" offense, not jail.
Now, if there's a bombshell hidden in the other undisclosed charges, can't wait to see them. Stuffing your sausage into Stormy Daniels should be in there somewhere, that's a felony for sure. Reality is that they don't really want Trump in prison, they want him as the candidate so they can repeat 2020. Keep the focus on the idiot instead of the demented alzheimer guy and his des5ruction of guvmint finances (extending Trumps own profligate ways).
Just wondering where all you law & order lock-em-up types were when Hilly committed 20 odd obvious felonies, then was let off the hook by a partisan guy acting outside his purview. The FBI gathers the evidence and the DA decides if charges are warranted. James Comey took it upon himself to go on national TV usurping the DA's power, in order to let free the person who put the country thru the now known phony "Russian collusion" drama ( which by the way, Oppo Research is not illegal).
This theory that the US is a country governed by "the rule of law" is a very sad joke. As bad as allowing ignorant uneducated bears free rein to post silly blog entries, now that's a felony!

If someone "falsifies business records" for the purpose of evading taxes then that is a legitimate upgrade. If they do it to secure a loan from an FDIC insured bank then it is a legitimate upgrade. If they try to tie it into some sort of a campaign related thing then that is obviously a stretch. We just have to wait and see. We might actually get to see some de novo approach to the application of existing law. That is even legitimate as it happens all the time in the courts, but in this case it would surely appear specious.

Michael Cohen was already convicted on campaign finance violations, tax evasion, and other charges for his activities within the Trump Organization allegedly in service and direction from Trump.

My guess is that felony campaign violations charges will be the lesser of the felony charges Trump will face today.
Cohen pleaded guilty to 5 counts of tax evasion and one count of making false statements to a financial institution in addition to the other counts regarding campaign finance violations.
Weisselberg (Trump Org CFO) pleaded guilty to 15 criminal charges including grand larceny, criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records.
All these charges were felonies and there is no way Trump didn't know and participate or have knowledge of these acts at Trump Org.

I thought Cohen's tax evasion and lying to a financial institution were related to his taxi business not his work for the Trump Organization. Supposedly, Weisselberg refused to testify against Trump. So, without his testimony of Trump's knowledge of criminal behavior I don't believe the DA will bring the same charges against Trump. But, we shall find out shortly.

Is 34 felonies a lot? I’ve never been arrested, much less indicted so it would be interesting to see the stats on felony indictments versus convictions. I heard that D.A.s only like to charge the ones they can win in court.
It’s been my experience that guilty people should plea bargain, cuz it’s only worse at sentencing (for wasting the court’s time) after conviction.
