Well, I think it's a fine establishment, where one can purchase a delicious hot cup of coffee.

I miss Diedrich's Coffee
They had Apple boats which always sold out.

If you miss Diedrich Coffee, Martin Diedrich owns and operates Kean Coffee. In my opinion, the best coffee house coffee in SoCal.
You will find them at:
2043 Westcliff Dr #100
Newport Beach, CA 92660
and
13681 Newport Ave #14
Tustin, CA 92780

Cafe Lu in Santa Ana.
|
|
In OC there are very limited choices. However, if you like variety, Hopper and Burr in Santa Ana. Food-wise, Hidden House is very good but their coffee is average on the 3rd wave spectrum. Portola is also a good option. Stumptown and Intelligentsia are great options.
A new thing among framers/producers is experimental processing. The concept is not new but it really pushes today's roast profiles to another level.
|
|
I like Intelligentsia
They have 4 locations in LA: SilverLake, Venice, Pasadena, Hollywood
However none in OC.
|
|
there is a place in san diego where they roast their own beans.
maybe they do that all over the place idk however their coffee was excellent, when i was in the area i always stopped for a cup.
i believe its called birdrock

If and when in the Del Mar area / Via de la Valle :
Milton's
2660 Via de la Valle
Del Mar CA 92014
They get their coffee from a local San Diego coffee roaster and it is absolutely delicious
Bold flavor, tasty and rich in flavor, and not bitter like Starbuck's ...
|
|
^ Milton's is also a great spot for sandwiches and lunch!

Fountain Valley will soon be home to TWO Dutch Bros Coffee Shops
Magnolia & Talbert --- by Sprouts
and

They will be the first Dutch Bros in OC, and I'm pretty certain that you'll see Dutch Bros all over OC over the next 10 years...

Buy a Breville for 800 and it pays for it self. Lavazza café. Perfect
|
|
I used to buy my coffee each morning from Starbucks or The Coffee Bean until I bought a Nespresso machine that uses the original pods.
You can buy Pete’s, L’Or, Lavazza, (the best of the brands of pods), etc. pods for it for around 30 cents per pod in a 100 pack (when on sale on Amazon). Each pod is one shot of espresso. I use 3 shots per cup with extra hot water (called Lungo in Italian, which pulls more hot water than a normal espresso shot).
You can drink it as a normal cup of coffee or as a latte with steamed milk (most Nespresso machines come with a milk steamer).
So for around $1, you’ll have coffee that tastes better and is as strong as the coffee you get from Starbuck or The Coffee Bean at less than 1/3 the price and is much more convenient.
But you need to get a Nespresso machine that uses the original Nespresso pods because they have knockoffs of those pods on Amazon for much cheaper than original Nespresso branded pods. Avoid Nespresso machines that use the Virtuo pods because thise pods are $1 or more per pod and don’t have knockoffs. Lastly, you can find used Nespresso machines on Craigslist from time to time, or just buy the machine from Macy’s, Amazon, or other retailers.
Once you do this, you’ll never feel the need to buy your coffee from a coffee shop because it tastes great. Just read the reviews on Amazon for the pods before buying.
