People that are trying to push this through are fucking idiots… They can all go fuck themselves and burn in hell as far as I’m concerned!
|

They sure are going all in pandering to the black population of California...considering they amount to just 5.6% of the total population of the state!
It makes very little sense...but not much that the left does makes sense these days.

Even though Newsom created that committee it appears like he is showing some hesitation. When the final reparation numbers were thrown out he deftly backpedaled saying recognition of the past sins and new policies to address discrimination were so much more than reparations - or something to that effect. Based on the tone of his comment I don't think he will allow it. I'm just wondering how he will spin the rejection.

yeah, in the back of my mind, the obvious question is, what the hell did he think was going to happen?
You cobble together any special interest group and give them a wide degree of latitude to address what they want from government - and other than die hard libertarians, all of them will give a laundry list of "free" stuff they want.
Not rocket science.

Why not force confederate states pay up the reparations? It’s what makes the most logical sense.
Do I believe African Americans deserve some type of reparations for the wrong doings of the past? I sure do. But having California a state that has nothing to do with this bad past pay up, makes absolutely no sense. And I’m glad Gavin Newsom sided with not going forward with it.

Slavery was endemic to Africa long before it ever became popular in the U.S., and it is still in practice today. I wonder how many slaves were rounded up by their own (black) people, usually tribal leaders, and sold to the European and American slave traders. I'll bet the reparations panel never makes mention of that.
Just review the attached link to the Wikipedia article and pay special attention to the chapter "African Participation In the Slave Trade".
If anything, the reparations panel should be going after Spain, Portugal, and Great Britain.
And research Anthony Johnson, a slave owner that was African American himself. Bet the reparations panel never mentions him either.
In summary; African blacks have been promoting slavery and profiting by it as much as Americans have. They are as much to blame as anyone else. Colonial (pre 1776) slavery was brought to the U.S. by Europeans. Slavery was not invented no introduced in America by Americans. African Americans are over-reaching their new found social power by expecting to get paid! Continuing to press for such things may result in a race war that they will surely lose.

So they have acknowledged that we have all lived past lives, and need to pay up ?
Well there is some truth to that, yet death does, do us part.

This whole idea of reparation's is fucking stupid.
You think a bunch of people that were never slaves should be paid by people that never owned slaves in a state that never kept slaves?
The last dollar figure I saw was more than the GDP of the entire planet Earth.
Hey! what about those Chinese slaves that built the railroads? or the Jews that have been persecuted for a millennia?
Show me a country that doesn't have blood in its history and I will show you Utopia!

Show me my fucking money!

Just give the money to each black homeless and call it done.

This is just political posturing. Reparations isn't going to happen in CA or anywhere else in the U.S. Reminds me of politicians that talk about meaningful cuts in the Federal budget but won't touch Social Security, Medicare, Defense and every expense that benefits their district or state. Lol that you fools that take this seriously.
|

How on earth do these fools get elected?
|
|
Hand Outs of America.
Who is going to foot the bill for all this bullshit?
The money tree?
|
|
"Hey! what about those Chinese slaves that built the railroads?"
Yea. And the native Americans who lost everything dammit. And did ya'll know that most western native Americans have 23 percent east Asian DNA? Now this is looking for us Chinese speakin' Injuns, isn't it?
Give us money too, dammit!

"Even though Newsom created that committee it appears like he is showing some hesitation."
It was certainly a stupid and short-sighted move on his part, getting a bunch of people worked up in hopes of getting their votes. He deserves every bit of fallout for it.

I'm all for it... but no more complaining, ever!
Because in less than 50 years all the money will spent buying the White Mans' products.

Hmm. Interesting.
I am not a particular advocate of unmitigated payments to all black Americans for slavery reparations. I would rather see more tax money spent on education about the truth of the peculiar institution in American history and the evolution of a caste system in our democracy which persists to this day. We are a republic founded upon the principle that all men are created equal and have seldom lived up to that ideal.
It is indisputably truthful that almost all African tribes traded slaves as commodities with European superpowers of the time. But slavery and racism are two different things.
Slavery in Africa and the ancient European world were more akin to indentured servitude. You were a slave but the prospect of freedom was available if not certain and your fate was not tied up with your skin.
American slavery was historically singular. It nurtured a hateful, immoral, unethical idea of racial supremacy which would have been incomprehensible to African slave owners or the ancients. For them slavery was commerce. For Americans slavery became racial hierarchy.
So what is to be done? Democrats need to release themselves of an absolutist idea of black victimization and Republicans need to live up to their supposed ideal of personal accountability. We all benefit from the historical riches of antebellum slavery. Slaves built our economy, our infrastructure, our cities. They built the White House.
There is no perfect solution to Americas original sin just as there is no perfect solution to our own personal sins.

Give them their reparations. They deserve it imo

Look at hey1 justifying slavery in Africa and Europe and nice and empowering!
That libitwats hate for American truly shines through with that post !

Add to that his past statements that he disregards the law, "wiping his ass" with laws designed to protect.
When one set of people think they are above the law and think it does not apply to them, then we get things like slavery, when those in power (in control of the law) felt those in a lower station in life were less than human (property) to be controlled by their moral superiors, well, we are all dammed.
