Life is always changing so who and what you have will change with it. Values change because people change so it's important to surround yourself with people who share the same values as you.

I've learned most of that is common sense or some shit you see on a hallmark card.

Selina, I have found you to be a caring and thoughtful person, who is self motivated and has a clear plan in mind. I interpreted the quote as placing more importance on those whom you care about than material things that you have. I believe that is the type of person you are based on our interactions.

I know...unfortunately these are not common sense to everyone lol, even the brightest ones are not aware of each of them

True feelings trump material things always.

People in your life should mean more to you than stuff.
There are a few people that bring me peace and kindness. The others, just bring noise, or bring me GRIEF. Those, I can live without. You have to take care of yourself. Mentally. Emotionally. Spiritually. Maybe it's a pet. A security blanket. At the end of the day, something to get you through the night.
Stuff can't comfort you. Stuff won't solve your problems.

Selina,
People come into your life and out... Some stay a while, some stay longer.
I come from a time before cellphones and the Internet. Before computers, laptops, tablets, and Wi-Fi. There was no media to stream, and AM radio was king. Personal entertainment didn't exist. We had record parties. Listening to 33-1/3 rpm 12" vinyl, and 7" 45 rpm singles.
There wasn't as much fast food, more diners and restaurants were around. We went to the park more, and played at the playground.
We did not have as much back then, not so many clothes, not so much stuff on our walls, not as many cabinets and drawers to stuff. We even parked 2 cars in a 2-car garage!

Now that I am in my later years, it's the quality of conversations, the warmth of our embraces, and the passion of the kisses we share that mean the most. Times that build memories, that'll we can cherish forever, that will never fade in time.
Like the first time I heard "I am in love with you", and I felt the same about her. I'll never forget her. It's not the stuff you have or collected that mattered, but the few people who mean everything to me.
