Is that why Rush Limbaugh used the term "Femnazi" in the1990s?

It’s always funny to see right wing heroes Ben Shapiro and Jesse Kelly go apeshit over a movie about a toy doll.
|
|
^ Yeah .... that's all the movie is about.

is it dead or peaking? asking for a friend

Feminism is peaking, and feminism is dead. Feminism just doesn't know it yet. Please let Eulogy know.
|
|
I see. So feminism is like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off. Thank you. Eulogy is already aware

I look at some of the garbage that Hollywood puts out as a guiding sign post of where some evil forces want society to be. It doesnt mean we are there but the intent of the creators is to influence behavior.
People who come from good family values structure wont be swayed into thinking "oh this is how I must mold my life". I'm sure there would be a lot of church pastors admonishing the movie.
The wearing of pink to the movie theater brings on a "cultish" appeal to the message. You can bet this is coordinated by the producers.
I remember the movie debut on a weekend that I was out of town in SLO. I remember seeing a lot of sorority gals walking around town in pink for the debut.
My point is sometimes Hollywood is trying to actively guide behaviour and not passively report it.

Meh. Go woke go broke shows how off base Hollywood is in it’s values
The $1billion box office on Barbie shows folks will see a good flick even if there’s virtue signaling. I don’t think wearing pink to the movie is problematic. It’s no different than Trekkies getting dressed to go see the latest Star Trek movie and things like that.

It's a movie .. about a Doll. Kind of like Chucky.
That being said .. Feminism is not dead, nor do I believe its in the process of dying. The truth is that the threat to feminism/women is no longer coming from Males. We are no longer the oppressors. The biggest irony ... is that the biggest threat to Women's rights today .. are other "Women". Completely different battle and a lot less likely, unfortunately, to garner media support. Males are like Trump ... easy to blame for everything that happens and everyone is more than willing to jump on the narrative. Was much easier when we were the oppressor.

It’s a movie.
If you think it’s a cultural zeitgeist, then may I recommend Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, so you can wear your beloved Stars and Stripes into battle and let the power of ‘Merida! Save you from the unholy undead that would feed on your corpse and take your job?

I just came back from seeing the movie at a Sunday matinee. It cost me $5.
The message of the movie was worse than I had thought that it would be. On the other hand I was less annoyed by actors who were said to be annoying. I liked Kate McKinnon as Weird Barbie. America Ferrer as the mother was less annoying than I thought that she would be. Her eighth-grader daughter, played by Ariana Greenblatt, was adorable. I was told that she was a shitty little commie.
Margot Robbie is from Queensland, Australia. She was acting with an American accent. There was one moment where her accent slipped.
What do I want for Christmas? I must have the official Ken doll Mojo Dojo Casa House tie.
The message of the movie, and by extension, the mentality of Millennial women, is extinction-level toxic. God help us.

take it NO robbie nakedness going on in the movie
|
|
There is no nudity on the part of anyone other than Ken (Ryan Gosling) spending most of the movie with his shirt off. The closest you get with Margot Robbie is her spandex while rollerblading.
I saw Dua Lipa in the credits. I had to Google it to see how I missed her. She was a blue-haired mermaid in the distance. Were Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig acting catty? Did they try to hide Dua Lipa in the back so that she would not outshine everybody else? I wouldn't put it past them. They are some pretty awful women.
