Oh my that is totally inhumane, how can you be so heartless?
After all these are just misunderstood murderers.
|

Remember, they identify as free men and women, so you can't keep them locked up.

That's an excellent idea. Causing conflicted thinking in the minds of liberals is how we will win the culture war!

Did any of y’all actually read what the bill says?
A convict could petition for recall and resentencing if the offense occurred before June 5, 1990, and the individual has served at least 25 years in custody.
So it is for crimes committed over 33 years ago where the convict served at least 25 years and the way I understand it is if sentencing guidelines have changed between then and now, the convict could petition the court for a redress of their sentence. Doesn’t mean the court will, only that the convict can petition.
Basically it is an equal protection under the law argument. Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution states “nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” If Person A got a life sentence for Crime A committed in 1985 and Person B got 10 years for Crime B in 2015 and Crimes A and B are substantially the same, shouldn’t Person A be resentenced?
Btw, not a libtard. If you murder someone, you should be locked away for the rest of your life.

Why are we spending any time or resources on someone who murdered with special circumstances someone 33 years ago? It's bad enough I gotta pay to feed and house them. Now I gotta pay my state representatives to fuck around and give them a way out of prison?
|

How much is rifle ammo these days? A buck a round? Line them up.

The actual bill is linked below. Everything Colossus said above is correct.
|
|
I read the bill. I understand what he said is correct. I don't understand the need for the bill. Waste of time and money in my opinion.
|
|
What I read was a person is sentenced to a term of 25 years to life.
That means after twenty five years, they stay in jail until they're dead.
That sentence means they are sentenced to life in prison with no chance for parole.
I think this is another b s law coming down from the state of california representatives
They will probably pass it

“SB 94 would save the state hundreds of millions of dollars each year by giving older inmates the right to judicial review,” said Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose), who authored the bill. “The recidivism rate for this inmate population is zero. That shows us that people age out of crime, and many have done the work to rehabilitate after decades behind bars. This inmate population deserves a path to parole.”
It is wrong even if one of them gets out of prison.
As soon as he mentions money it is all about money.
|
|
It's not going to save any money because they won't be able to support themselves in society, so they will still be on the governments teat. So now I have to pay for them to be out of jail. Wonderful.
|
|
What if we got back to real capital punishment.
You have x number years for appeals.
After that if you are still guilty of manslaughter in 1st degree you then decide on your last meal. Done.
It's bullshit the state has to coddle murder convicts for life then consider releasing them back into society as more cost effective.

My thoughts.
When a murderer petitions. Let them send Senator Dave Cortese to the victim's family and sell them on why this is such a bright idea.
Now if that family agrees let the murderer out on parole.
If not, let them out on parole and Newsom may serve the balance of the sentence.
When the petitioner dies Newsom will be set free.
These guys will take their turns on the list.
Senator Cortese, Senator Becker, Senator Skinner, Senator Wiener
It is not necessary for anymore names.
|
|
Should not be confined to CA state legislators only.
Add Katie Porker to the list.
|
