No bro...
Fiscal conservatism and Social moderate policies work ...
Give a man a fish and he won't be hungry today ...
Teach a man to fish and he'll never be hungry again
^^^ Something like that But I'm sure you get it
Giving people free stuff just doesn't work ...
Help people to better themselves works
|
|
Would just create more lazy people.

I like the idea.
But $5000 that is supposed to go to women should be given to men. Men could then dole out the $5000 to women over time as a reward for when women, like every once in a great while, act right.

As AI and automation take more and more jobs and the gap between the very wealthiest and the rest of society grows I personally think UBI is inevitable.
|
|
Bezos makes in 7 seconds what the average amazon warehouse worker makes in a year. As a society this is unsustainable. Not to mention the unattainable for most cost of home ownership and home rental expense.
|
|
Update:
The UBI is for all genders beginning at birth. The fund makes money from foreign exchange patterns being profited on at trillions of dollars per second. So it's a privately funded and grown endeavor vs a public fund.
|
|
When I was a very young, my family was on welfare, so I am very familiar with this program.
BTW, don’t knock gubment sheese......that shit is tasty.
|
|
TOS makes good points. With AI set to wipe out potentially so many jobs, it is either UBI or a massive uprising or revolution of some type. Or out and out fascism in the real sense of the word.
|
|
The Don gets it.
|
|
I dont think a UBI is even sustainable in the long run.
At some point the people involved with funding and administering a UBI program are going to expect some sort of tangible benefit work or production benefit in return.
If AI robots have replaced most jobs population reduction becomes the dynamic adjustment.
Revolt now.
|
|
And Universal Basic Income.
And this is what you will get in return.
It's already happening.

I believe a good case can be made for a Scandinavian style political and economic model. Excellent public education, well regulated free markets with high taxes on the winners funding a strong social safety net for the losers with a large comfortable middle class. Free and fair elections and low levels of political corruption.
The devil’s in the details of course but our ever increasing debt, political division and inequality isn’t sustainable.
|
|
The globalists do not want a well educated population. They are much harder to control when they are.
Desperation causes submission and subverts ones personal standards.
See Universal Basic income.
|
|
If there was universal basic poon, UBP, there would be less of these maniacs shooting up our bars.

@NickSGV yes. I have a childhood friend who lives in Finland and loves it. Quality of life is great for many.

I can't tell if OP is serious, high, or just a blithering idiot
Why 500? Nice easy round number. Why not 400, or 600?
How do you figure 10% growth?
Sure they FX market is massive, with large institutional investors down to day traders.
How do you minimize risk - it's not secured, how do you compensate for loss, and there are MASSIVE swings and losses - even large FX desks at major money center banks routinely take haircuts (or worse)
I mean, FX isn't as dangerous as crypto, but use that as a comparison.
Who's going to set this up for the "benefit" of all mankind - seriously - no one will set something up without the profits going into their pocket - setting something up for altruistic reasons?
Not anyone here that's for sure, and even if you think you can, the corruption & greed would keep your supposid "profits" out of the hands of those you think.
I feel sorry for your employer - keep that resume updated.

Would it be like the deli counter where you got Prime, Choice, Select and Standard?
I would sign up for the UUP...........Universal Upgraded Poon
Basic Poon sounds kinda blah
Maybe OP and TOS should do some research first:
"Despite proof that the UBI program improved basic income recipients' physical and mental well-being, it was deemed a failure because it did not fix every aspect of the labor market in two years. Recipients worked more, but that apparently still was not enough." Jun 20, 2020
"Political maneuvers and bureaucratic resistance helped sink Finland's widely watched basic income experiment. But the most important factor behind the policy's demise was its uneasy relationship with widespread social norms about work and fairness." Dec 1, 2019
attached link has good info, bottom line is that there are better ways to achieve the desired outcome than UBI.
The gap between you and Bezos will NEVER be bridged, that's just a stupid example.

I think it will work once in a blue poon.

My original statement stands. If you don’t like the Bezos example pick another, the gap between the mega wealthy and society grows while opportunities to achieve generational wealth diminish.

Keep drinking the Marxist Kool-Aid.....

solid factual response, thanks for elevating the conversation.
|
|
How are you measuring wealth? Just dollars? That’s not an accurate measurement.
Is a poor person in America today better off with greater opportunity than a poor person from 1950?
You bet your ass.
A poor person today can get a free phone with access to more information and education than President had access to just 50 years ago. For free. Any time. In their pocket.
If they choose to scroll on instagram then that’s a bad choice. UBI doesn’t fox their poor decision making skills.

good luck buying a house with that great phone.

solid factual response, thanks for elevating the conversation.
Well, when people come forward with crazy, lunatic ideas, they must be drinking someone's Kool-Aid.
Why do you somehow think UBI makes any sense whatsover.
Get an education, get a job. AI isn't going to do away with all jobs. This bullshit is just designed to put crazy notions in people's minds to secure votes. Just like the idea of college loan debt forgiveness.
Dangle the carrot and people may actually jump.
Move on Marxist or better yet, go find a nice Marxist country out there to live.

I don't know if we'll see this in our lifetime's but if I could change a few things :
Revamp the tax structure and go to a flat 30% tax for everyone Fuck the IRS and send them all pink slips, and hire Deloitte and the like to manage our Federal books...
Utilize our community colleges and state schools so that everyone gets at least
a Bachelor's degree in something --- we can't afford a society of idiots for now or for future generations... Give incentives for those that will pursue bio-tech, sciences, technologies, pharmaceutical, health care, etc ... Yes, they have to pay it back via auto-direct from their paychecks after graduation ...
Somehow, we have to get rid of Lobbyists ... Fucking corruption at the highest levels !!!
We need Deloitte and the like to audit everything and no more $ 6000 shitters to pad your government budgets !!!
I'd move our Capitol and all government agencies to the greater Dallas TX area...
You can blow up DC, Northern VA and start all over !!!
Keep our military the strongest in the world --- Our enemies only respect a bigger fist !!!
We help our own, we teach them to fish scenario, we provide healthcare to all, we provide opportunity for small businesses to start up, but we don't carry anybody abled forever !!!
Yes, I know that I would never be elected President based on my non-conformist beliefs,
but I truly believe that our current system of Government is so fucked up, and needs immediate
repairs in a very big way

good luck buying a house with that great phone
You completely missed the point.
Compare a 1950s house to a starter home today. You can absolutely buy a 1950 comparable house for cheap because todays homes are bigger and nicer. Most trailer camper homes are nicer than a 1950s starter homes lol.
You can also easily lever a phone to a house purchase. Far more easily than one could before. Hard work, good choices, and time is all it takes.
|
|
We could probably fire every other Federal worker and not see any decline in services. And that would save us 50% of the salary and benefits costs of all Federal agencies across the board.

THE TIME TO REVOLT IS NOW!
I don't care if you're a Repulsive or Democrap, let me know, I'll all in and ready.
|
|
Zero based budgeting is needed now more than ever before.
Every dollar spent by the Federal government agency must be fully justified with proof of actual program results. No more " My agency spent 100 billion last year, so this year I need 120 billion". Bet you wasted much of that 100 billion, so prove the need for every dollar and every worker.

1950
Median home value (unadjusted): $7,354
Median home value (inflation-adjusted to 2020 dollars): $79,063

"My original statement still topples over. If you don’t like the Bezos example pick another, the gap between the mega wealthy and society grows while opportunities to achieve generational wealth diminish."
Study history before placing ones foot firmly in mouth.
JP Morgan's adjusted wealth would be about $50 billion today and he died in 1913.
Average yearly income in 1913 was $750 PER YEAR.
Comparatively, Bezos is a pauper these days compared to JPM.
JPM rescued the United States of America, literally saved us from financial ruin in 1907.
Can you imagine Jeff Bezos doing the same now
Now look forward another 100 years and at the rate of wealth creation and FJB inflation, guys like Bezos will be worth $100 Trillion..........and your average communist wage slave, such as yourself OP, will be making maybe $1million/year.............yep, it'll likely get even worse for you big boy.
But, you keep waving that hammer and sickle around, that's a winner for sure!
|
|
yes, an actual comparable pauper.
I do appreciate that you cite examples though and I did find your link about UBI interesting.

My main point isn't about the ultra rich but about the fewer career opportunities and skyrocketing costs of homes and education and healthcare. IMO only going to get worst with AI and automation.
|
|
Anyone sitting around stewing and complaining about the rich & poor divide don't understand how wealth is created and held.
|
|
Just hard work, smart choices and pulling on your boot straps right?
|
|
"My main point isn't about the ultra rich but about the fewer career opportunities and skyrocketing costs of homes and education and healthcare. IMO only going to get worst with AI and automation."
Ahhhh, yes....the debasement of the currency.
Every good politician loves them some currency trashing, inflation is their best friend......if you'd just stop bitching about it!
When you're busy spending more than you take in, running up the debt, the only way out is to pay it back in cheaper dollars down the road......both Rep and Dems love this game.
As for AI and automation, that's like complaining that we're losing jobs in the buggy whip and elevator operator industries. Work smarter, not harder is the way forward.
Anyhoo, don't get discouraged..........unless you're Hey0, if so.....might as well self-terminate now.

I'd rather hire robots.
You Gen whatever LGBTABC are a bunch of dumb fuck, lazy, remote control, forte nite playing bunch of emo pussies.
Can't even lift 50 lbs. Always late, can't work past 7 hrs.,won't take orders or instructions, know it all FUCKING punks.
Take your 500 bucks and stay in bed. While me and my 10 robots go get shit done.
Oh, and fuck your dad too.

Update:
Averages for institutions are 6/10 profitable trades and 10-12% roi annually. Risk managenent is already factored.
$500.00 it's a thought experiment. These parameters aren't the most important. What matters in this experiment is seeing what type of people based on core neuronal activities, to eliminate from a potential fund. 1 bad actor ruins a bunch. Just kidding.
Don't take it too seriously. Answer how you naturally think.

Butz woke up this morning and chose violence.

$500 a month? All of the money will end up in the hands of the ladies on this site. But with Democrat inflation in place, it's one visit and some gas for the round trip. If the lady is extremely reasonable, there may be just enough left over for lunch!
Just like reparations...give black people six figures and the Cadillac dealerships and fur coat stores will have all the money inside of two weeks!!!

1950
Median home value (unadjusted): $7,354
Median home value (inflation-adjusted to 2020 dollars): $79,063
Your super basic analysis consisting of a quick google search to a random, unverified, non-peer reviewed source fails to take into account:
In 1950 the average new home was 983 square feet and the average household was 3.8 people, which is 259 square feet per person. Now the average is 2500 square feet for a 2.6 person household, which is 962 square feet per person. People today are getting homes that are 3.7 times larger per person.
You’re also failing to account for the fact that in 1950 25% of homes didn't have a complete plumbing system, 15% didn't have a single toilet and 20% didn't have any electricity.
A third of were heated with coal, which is not just unreliable and inconvenient but awful for the lungs and overall health of the home’s inhabitants.
Thank you for proving my point on numerous fronts.

median
|
|
I like how you assert that there is a skewed distribution but don’t actually provide any evidence to support that assertion other than medians can *sometimes* vary dramatically from the mean.
And for the record you generally want to provide all 5 measures of center and ensure that N>30 in the sample to avoid violating central limit theorem.
But you do you with your basic google searches. I can definitely see why you would prefer to get free helicopter money instead of competing on merits.

OK I'll go buy a nice affordable starter home since it's so much better now. I personally am fine by the way, my concern is for the ones coming up after me.
