So another payoff to China and the Saudis, and Americans take it up the ass.
In the meantime, even though cut by Biden, we give low cost exploration and drilling leases on Federal land to oil companies, who extract the oil and sell it on the world market...that oil is on Federal lands and belongs to We the People. The companies should be granted exploration and lease rights free of charge, but be obligated to extract, refine, and sell the end product in America to Americans as a REASONABLE price and profit.

Then there is the fact that many countries see oil exports as an important strategic and geopolitical tool. In those cases, these nations give concessions to ensure that their oil is sold at an advantageous price. Russia has in the past been accused of weaponizing energy supply, but it is something that he and other dictators and human rights abusers have been doing for years to make client nations, including the U.S., ignore who they are and what they do.
The reality is, when the US Government takes it's proverbial boot off of the neck of oil supply and production, We the People will all be a lot better off.

Sorry, I didn't realize you responded until now.
First, I don't post in these blogs to be amusing, even mildly amusing. I am amusing socially and hopefully to the women on this site. I didn't blog until Trump was running for President the first time.
Anyhow...I will admit that I am not an expert in oil production, but I do know some. If the proposition that the United States has the highest oil production in the world is correct, and it is, why would we import oil from Saudi Arabia at $100/barrel? It's actually a complicated question.
Take a look at the linked page. The US is a net exporter of oil. We import 8.33 million barrels a day, while we export 9.52 million barrels a day. We are therefore a net exporter of 1.19 million barrels a day. This year, that number should be at least 13% higher because the US is ramping up oil production.
Also, 50% of our imports are from Canada and only 7% is from Saudi Arabia.
How does any of this make any sense? We pump the most oil out of the ground than any other country in the world. I believe we import oil from Canada to refine it because of our greater refining capacity, and then we can export crude or refined oil products and then import finished oil products (like petroleum jelly used by the guys on this site to whack off).
Bottom line: I think what you wrote about how we need to buy oil from Saudi Arabia at $100/barrel is misleading because we are not dependent on them for our oil needs. And we are in no rush to replenish our strategic oil reserves because we have net positive oil production. If our production were at a net deficit, that would be more problematic. It doesn't make sense to buy back oil now at higher prices. We should just wait until the price of oil drops and then replenish reserves at cheaper prices.
Surprisingly, I like this suggestion of yours:

I think that's very reasonable and should be done. That really doesn't sound like a Republican position, though (shouldn't the free market determine the price?). When it comes to necessities that affects every single person in this country (the price of all goods are affected by the cost of transportation which is affected by fuel costs), we do need favorable pricing and greedy oil companies should be controlled, especially when oil is being pumped out of federal lands.
