Before COVID, the big worry was about the economy popping (like a homeless hobo pops off in yo' mouth) and inflation rising. And that was at the beginning of the Trump administration.
COVID only delayed it, but we knew it was coming. We have even been expecting a big recession, but that has not hit.
Is this bad optics for Biden?
Yes, and for much of the economy.
I won't deny that a lot of Americans are hurting right now, but we knew it was coming and it was going to hurt.

When the commercial real estate market crashes, are we going to take advantage of the cheap buying opportunities, or whine about real estate we never owned, and had no intention of ever purchasing?

Biggest mystery for me in real estate (other than interest rates and what happens when rates reset) is how long this remote work from home or anywhere you want "fad" continues or is it permanent. That will drive office space values and possibly unwind the flight to suburbs trend that accelerated during COVID
