Pool filters are easy to clean. Is yours a cartridge filter?

Or does it use diatomaceous earth that coats the grid panels? If so, you have to back flush the filter and then add the powder material so it will again coat the grids and filter the water.

The skimmer should also have a filter that catches leaves and larger debris. Finally, the pump motor also has a filter that may need to be cleaned out as it catches some pieces of plants, trees, bark, etc. Then there is the large pool filter that has the diatomaceous earth.
