I’m happy to admit I don’t like the death penalty. That’s different from pointing out facts like the existing cost differential between incarceration and execution.
I’ll even tell you why I don’t like the death penalty. Sometimes cops, prosecutors, judges and juries make mistakes. They’re human beings. Sometimes an innocent man (or woman) gets convicted. It doesn’t happen a lot but it happens. If you execute the wrong person there’s no going back. If you incarcerate the wrong person you can release them.
So yeah, I don’t like the idea of executing a single innocent person because our justice system convicted the wrong person. You will never change my mind about that either.
And finally, don’t you know grumpy butt is gonna whine about you locking his blog with a double stack?

When someone (I don’t remember who) on another blog said it was cheaper to execute than to incarcerate, I corrected them.
I don’t care how it is in some magical dream world that doesn’t exist. In the real world where most of us live it costs more to execute someone than it does to incarcerate them for life. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.
Goofball was anxious to try to win an argument so he insisted on taking sides on the death penalty. Maybe he accused me of trying to hide my opinion?
I told him how I feel about the death penalty and why.
He didn’t have much to say other than implying that stating a real world fact was not a rational cogent argument. He’s right, it wasn’t. It was just a fact. There was nothing to argue.
