The abortion issue is miniscule in comparison to the bigger issues of the economy and rapid inflation in every facet of life, being on the brink of WW3 - this just isn't going to be a normal election in terms of voter considerations.

You're right. He's not like Trump in those ways, but in some ways he's even worse. He's a Neo-fascist who is trying to control Florida like a banana republic. Professors are fleeing the state because of the restrictions being imposed on education, he forced the passing of strict abortion restrictions, immigrants are fleeing where they can't even pick crops, and property insurance is a complete mess there now because of his mishandling of it. For the most part, people don't like him outside of Florida.
Edmond, abortion is a huge problem for Republicans everywhere in the country, including in red states. That issue alone will sink them in 2024.
But let's add their complete ineffectiveness in governing in the House, that Trump will likely be convicted in early to mid 2024, and that the polls have showed that if he were convicted, Biden would end up winning by at least 5 points. And that negative poll for Biden that came out last week didn't factor in RFK, Jr., who takes away votes from Trump.
I say that the Dems are in a very good place right now.

Yes, the economy is important and we have two wars going at the same time, but the GOP can’t be trusted to govern and will seek to abridge personal liberties any chance they can. When shown the alternative, voters will end up voting for Biden as the lesser of two evils. And Democrats will keep the Senate and win a large majority in the House. The GOP will be reeling in 2024.

The general consensus that one does not go to war with their biggest trading partner was rendered moot in WWII when Germany invaded France, their biggest trading partner. If world domination is the goal it doesn't matter who you invade or piss off - the only thing that matters is if you win or not.

But world domination today is much different than it was in WWII. Territory is not necessarily the goal, financial domination is the name of the game now. No one really believes that Russia or China could invade the U.S. and have us all speaking their language in 20 years. However, they could undermine our dollar to the point that it is no longer accepted as the world's default currency.
Recent moves in an attempt to abandon the U.S. Dollar as the standard currency in international oil transactions is just the first step in this new style of warfare. Invading Ukraine or Taiwan can be viewed as just strategic moves towards that bigger goal.
Don't forget about how the Soviet Union met it's demise when the Berlin Wall came down; we didn't defeat them, we just outspent them in an arms race to the point that they essentially went bankrupt before we did! But of you recall the recession in the U.S.in the early 90's - it was a close thing!

If the U.S. allows Russia to absorb Ukraine, then we would likely roll over and let China take over Taiwan. If we throw our unflinching support behind Ukraine, China would think twice about attempting to take over Taiwan.
Allowing for a bigger and more powerful Russia or China is not in our best interests.

I don’t think Germany’s invasion of France in WW2 is analogous to our current situation with China.
China is far weaker than the U.S. militarily and they wouldn’t want to “poke the bear.” If there were a war between the two countries, China’s economy would suffer much more than ours and they have no chance of winning at war unlike the Germans in WW2.
As you said, world domination is very different now. We are more powerful than any other country, but that doesn't mean other countries aren't trying to mess with us. Russia has destabilized us politically by fostering hatred between liberals and conservatives. And they've done that by affecting our social media. Both Russia and China would like to chip away at our dominance; they can't do it militarily, so they will seek every other means to do so and will slowly want to get the upper hand eventually. At least I suspect that is their goal.

War is supply chains and logistics, not just weapons. And, if you hadn't noticed, we're just a bit stretched supplying 2 wars now while China has none.
China is much stronger than you think if the theater is the South China Sea.
Their weak link is Command & Control over large multi-force engagements. Can they get a 2 million man army to effectively communicate force projection in conjunction with their Navy is a big question mark. No matter what, we'd have a difficult time of it, if the war is 100 miles off their coast while supplying 2 other wars, at the same time.
Both Reps & Dems have been too busy pandering for votes rather than keep our military infrastructure intact. Typical bullshit, the only black gunpowder manufacturer in the US is a mess. Sounds stupid but it's still an ingredient in a lot of munitions.

Let's both agree that the polls taken now don't really matter, given that the election is a year away.
However, EVERY poll taken now.......every one of them shows essentially a dead heat between FJB & FDT........except in the swing states, where FDT is ahead marginally.
That's just the reality NOW, now matter how you try to spin it or how much time you spend in a Prog dream-like state.
The problem for FJB is the polls that show what happens when the other players enter the game. RFK draws from FDT but only marginally, while West, Manchin (who really knows if he'll enter the race) and now Jill Stein is running for the Green Party.........more votes siphoned from FJB.
Even Black Jesus (by way of David Axelrod) thinks FJB is in trouble and is suggesting, for the good of the country, that he bow out and let new blood enter the race for the Demons.

A year is forever in politics though but another big problem for FJB is what happens in the economy around Spring. Usually, when the Fed finally loosens, that's when unemployment shoots up and the economy gets weak.
