part of the problem actually, most recent elections have been stolen.
maybe not always at the poll but there are other ways
won on technicalities or strangely organized re-counts.
just the field of gravity, people tend to not vote for someone others do not consider a winner so they go with the popular choice.

Just make election day a holiday. No excuse for anyone to not vote, disenfranchised, etc.
Get rid of clear compromised practices like ballot harvesting, unsupervised recounts, etc. If someone is too unfocused to send a mail-in ballot, vote in-person, vote on a holiday, then maybe they have, by default, forfeited their vote.
