The latest from the investigation is the investigation is halted because a federal judge has indicated a special master is required.
That was Monday and still no word if the DOJ will appeal as of yet.

I have said that any reference to "nuclear secrets" was pure speculation. Well, no more!

He has destroyed our foreign intelligence apparatus! NO COUNTRY is going to trust us with top level secrets anymore until we can COMPLETELY OVERHAUL our system of handling classified materials and keep stupid SOB's like Trump from being able to do this again. This will take YEARS - IF NOT DECADES! It may even result in a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT to strip any POTUS of the powers to "declassify" classified information at will.
If you think that the Russian attempts to influence previous elections was bad, just wait and see what happens if this CRAZY PERSON actually gets the GOP nod for president in 2024. EVERY country that we USED TO THINK WAS OUR ALLY is going to try to (passively) subvert the elections to make sure Trump isn't elected - the Brits, French, Germans, Japanese, Aussies, Israelis, Mexicans, Canadians, AND THE FUCKING LIST GOES ON! They are probably already gearing up for that election to protect against the outside chance that he will be on the ticket. And it won't even matter if it is finally revealed that the foreign power was actually an enemy of ours, like Russia; the issue will be the careless and stupid handling of classified materials.

That scares me as much as anything you all have spoken about. We can't trust our own justice system to prepare their case in private....no, they try to sway public opinion by leaking little by little until there won't be an unbiased jury. Everyone, stand back for a minute and absorb all of the facts as we know them. Trump had classified nuclear information at his fucking country club where spies have been know to infiltrate before. At least some of the documents were in his office, just feet away from a ballroom open to all of the guests.
Do you not at least think that this is reckless and irresponsible? How could anyhow believe that he’s fit to be President with such poor judgment?

In what world does a credible Department of Justice and FBI need to rely on leaking key "facts" of an "investigation" to the primary swamp yellow rag journalists at the WaPo rather than letting the case play out in a real court.
Let's not forget the WaPo garnered not one but TWO Pulitzer Prize Awards for the stellar journalism involved with the Russia Collusion hoax.
They should shamefully return those awards given all we know about that hoax.
So this is where we are... The FBI only has empty folders that say "classified" on it... The lead investigator was canned about two weeks ago... numerous whistleblowers are still calling for Wray to step down.. but the media is whipping up all kinds of tin foil theories on what happened to docs and they have zilch authority to comment or spread rumors.
And it still stands that a special master has been requested to get Trumps medical records and attorney client privileged doc back and the "investigation" is on hold.

I don't think we have ever seen the DOJ or FBI "leak" information before, or at least not to this level. I think the only reason we are seeing it now is because Trump used his normal art of deflection, went on the offensive, and attacked them on every news and social media platform he could get his hands on. It was such a vicious attack that they went on the defensive - and pushed back. So we can thank Trump for teaching the DOJ and FBI a new tactic that they may now use on a regular basis. He is single-handedly responsible for modifying their behavior (for the worse)!
And please remember that when the DOJ says, "no evidence of collusion", that doesn't mean the investigation is over! Stay tuned for that one! No doubt they are comparing all of that information against the new information and seeing where it dove-tails. How many times have we seen a murder case go "unsolved" and become a cold case, only to find the culprit later through some enhanced forensic tool that provides more evidence, or even a witness? If there is a reasonable suspicion that a crime MAY have been committed but not enough evidence to charge someone, it is only a cold case, not a closed case!
And it is interesting that Fox News reported on it, quoting the article in the Washington Post, but offered not an iota of pushback or defense of the "leak". Even some Republican elected officials are going silent and starting to distance themselves from him, and I assume that they are in a position to know a hell of a lot more on the subject than any of us do.
Sometimes the truth can be found in the silence.
I was pretty convinced before that he would eventually skate on the classified files issue with a slap on the hand. Now I think it is a reasonable expectation that he may end up being charged with treason! And based on the seriousness of that, I don't think they are going to let anyone, even a former president, off the hook - because if they did, how would you ever expect to prosecute Edward Snowden, who's crime was based on the altruistic idea that he had to protect every citizen from the abuses that he personally witnessed?

The likelihood is that Trump never sees the inside of a jail. This country doesn’t have the stomach or the balls to fully prosecute a former President. It’s actually sad that the rule of law does not apply to all Americans equally.

I believe there are more court hearings coming up this week. It is generally a mistake to try these issues iin the press until all the actual evidence is out. Because of the partisanship on both sides they will continue to trade barbs and leaks. Perhaps true and false. Let us withhold some judgment about what is going on with these documents until they are revealed or unsealed in court. Plus there are legal issues re the Presifential Records Act to hash out.

^I’ve worked for RAND and several important groups that require security back when I was younger, sharper and ambitious. I’ve been close to some of the real conspiracies that are operating under the rug, military/industrial and otherwise. In short, I know how most work.

I have thought on those same lines for a long time. I understand the need (I guess you would call it that) to sometimes add "pork" to a bill because a small bill (maybe 2 million in spending) is just not big enough to go through the entire process of committees and the such. But a major bill should not have more than 5-10% of the total expenditure for things that are not related to the main intent of the bill. That's how some of the real crap flies under the radar.
That and term limits! Between the two of them we could cleanup a major portion of the problems this country now faces. Maybe even add a federal level referendum process.
And eliminate the special perks that congress gets. Make them part of the regular social security program. And do away with that "one-term and you get a pension for life" crap!
