But I've been told that we need illegal immigrants to fill jobs. I've been told by the educated elite among us that California's successful economy is due to the Democrat policy of welcoming illegal immigrants.
Except that I've never heard the Democrat mayors of Chicago and D.C. say "Great! More labor! Welcome!" Instead, they declared a state of emergency because they received a fraction of the illegal immigrants that border towns receive.
The rich Democrat elite who own property in Martha's Vineyard could have turned this situation in their favor with at least two different responses:
1. They could have admitted that there is in fact a border crisis, contrary to what the VP said, and that they can now sympathize with THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS in Texas and Florida whose communities simply don't have the infrastructure to handle the unrestricted flow of illegal immigrants. They could have simply admitted that Rubio's political "stunt" actually opened their eyes.
2. They could have taken the unexpected arrival of 50 migrants as a challenge and put them up in their mansions, given them food and helped them to find jobs. Note that it was a CHURCH which actually stepped up to help house the migrants before the national guard was called in to move them elsewhere.
But the Dem elite did neither.

I admit Biden's immigration policy is a mess, but Biden is not purposefully sending illegal immigrants to red states to piss off the people there. There's no ideological game of "I'm going to screw Republicans with illegal immigrants" going on. Incompetency, yes. Malignity, no. On the other hand, DeSantis is purposefully sending illegal immigrants not even from his own state to very blue areas purposely to piss off residents there and get points from his base.
Biden is just dumb. DeSantis is playing ideological games.

However, some might even say what Biden is doing is WORSE than what DeSantis is doing, based on the much larger scale of things at the border.

First off, Biden's border policy is bad policy. At the very least, he's putting a strain on the border towns. If Chicago, New York and DC are complaining that they can't handle a few hundred migrants, what chance does a small border town like Del Rio have? Even El Paso, a Democrat-controlled city, is transporting migrants elsewhere. But since it's not a "statement", it's ok?
Second, this administration is LYING when it claims that the border is secure. So then why should DC, Martha's Vineyard, New York and Chicago say that they can't handle a few hundred unexpected migrants? Isn't that just business as usual?
Third, there are laws on the books controlling immigration. This administration is refusing to enforce them. Illegal immigrants bused to DC have openly stated that the border is open. Anyone carrying anything can come in.
Fourth, I think even Rubio and Abbott would agree with the Dems and their allies in the media that yes, a political statement is being made here. Yet the Dems refuse to even come out and say what that statement is! They can't even bring themselves to acknowledge that the border situation is out of control and it's putting a strain on the border states, even as the politicians in IL, DC, NY and MA claim that they can't handle the few migrants who have been transported there. It's really quite amazing.
Fifth, as I have stated elsewhere, Martha's Vineyard especially has laid bare the blatant hypocrisy of the wealthy white progressives. They want to take care of immigrants, but they also want someone else to take care of them. Even though there are more than enough resources in MV to do so. Instead of reaching into their own pockets to help others, they want to reach into SOMEONE ELSE"S POCKET to help those people, and then pat themselves on the back for doing so!

Ah. Sixth, I think Biden and whoever is pulling his strings more definitely have political motives for having an open border. They want to score points with the base, and they want to turn the red and purple states blue, ensuring one-party rule forever. Every person that they allow to skirt the rules is a potential Democrat voter. Kamala just stated that illegals should be afforded a path to citizenship.
As long as they are not from Cuba. Those people get turned back.

1) Biden's hoping they will be Democrat loyalists and stay dependent of govt handouts.
2) Biden's hoping he can push a mass amnesty through congress and turn all these people into voters. Even Kamala openly stated this a week ago in a TV interview.
It's bad enough when you think about the national security threat with an open border and the known level of fentanyl pouring in.

Your obvious implication was that those states declared a state of emergency because they could not handle the migrants, which is not the case. Similarly, Ted Cruz deleted a tweet where he criticized and falsely claimed that “Dems” activated the National Guard to “interdict” migrants in Massachusetts.
If 50 migrants were sent to Newport Beach or Huntington Beach, those cities would also be unable to effectively handle them. They aren't equipped to handle migrants, as opposed to cities at the border that have the requisite immigration agencies located there.
What you should be focusing on is how they fucked with the migrants when they were sent to Martha’s Vineyard. Desantis/DHS didn’t just send them to Martha’s Vineyard to say “they’re your problem now, deal with them.” They sent them under false pretenses and then gave them false addresses at RANDOM HOMELESS SHELTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY to make it extremely difficult for them to stay in this country, forcing them to miss their court dates.
Paperwork was sent to those false addresses where they are required to go to court to stay in the country. That is the reason Dems and the attorneys working to help the migrants are outraged now.
Of course, all of this was not addressed by your simplistic, sweeping generalization that the states couldn’t handle the migrants and thus turned to the National Guard for help.

Blue states are upset by migrants being sent to Martha vineyard? Migrants dying on the border, 35% of the women coming in have been raped while in Mexico, children are drowning and fentanyl continues to flood across the border and thousands and thousands of young people are dying every year because of it. Are blue States upset about that, hell no.

Set up immigration based upon needs of the country and ability of the immigrant to support themselves and NOT be an immediate drain on social services resources.
