China and Russia both want to rule the planet, and kick USA's ass to the curb. Pandering to them does nothing but embolden them.
Oh nightrider, what are you afraid of?
@SeymourButz, maybe we will be drinking vodka and eating Peking duck, in the near future. LOL
NineRider likes to kiss Pustink ass and be ridden by Xi. Another dumb ass Trumpster.
Russia is our enemy? I thought Trump said Putin was an honest believable guy?
Hey Nine Rider - Stop playing at being a geopolitical strategist. The world was a lot different in 1972. If you ask Kissinger he will surely tell you that.
West Point cadets will NOT be reading the Art of War, such book will be banned.
Our great leader will write a new book... The Art of Losing... the mandatory reading for West Point cadets will now be The Art of Losing.
The withdraw from Afghanistan will be the first chapter.

^^^
The world is indeed be different, one look at a map from 1972 will tell any fool that.
Hell, there is probably a dozen and a half countries that no longer exist from that time.
HOWEVER
Politics and self-interest don't change.
Period.
Oh, sure, the country names may change, allegiances may change, leaders will, all that, but that's just window dressing.
Strip it all away and core interests are fundamental to human existence.
In other words, the US has much the same interests now as we did 50 years ago.
Kissinger understood the old I think British saying of:
Nations have no permanent friends and no permanent enemies, only permanent interests
Point of OP is spot on, if it's in the USA's interest to play China against Russia, we should do so.
To do otherwise is not in our interest.
Why can't we all just get along?
Assholes!
so who's the friend we are pushing towards the enemy?

Yesterday our do nothing border czar VP was at the DMZ in Korea capping off a four day stint touring Asia.
She out did her boss with this gaffe on camera...
“The United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance with the Republic of North Korea,” Ms. Harris told reporters at the DMZ, misstating South Korea’s official name, the Republic of Korea."
These fools should just stay in the basement until they are voted out.
she really said that?
i do find it amazing how she was in top legal job in california
On our Veep & North Korea......
It's a Double Standard - the Press hates republicans, and will sell their first born to protect democrats.
Can you imagine if Bush said that?
The Press would run with that for YEARS - look at how they distorted his supermarket scanner comment on a partial UPC code.
Ask Dan Quail how long the press made fun of him on misspelling Potato.
If the press reported fairly, we would have fewer democrats like Brain Dead Biden.
^ Yeah Republican !
What's odd about it is that Trump is the only US President who while in office not only stood at the DMZ but also walked into N Korea and have relaxed open dialogue with Kim Jong-un.
Of course the media bashed him for it as some sort of traitor even though both Carter and Clinton had met the N Korean leader after leaving office.
Oh, it's so transparent. Trump had a tower lined up in Moscow when he was on good terms with Russia, and when that fell apart he started talking about prime beachfront real estate with Kim Jong Il.
Now the average Republican don't care about no beachfront property, they just LOVE the cult of fascist dictator personality and want to see Trump warm up to Putin and Xi Ji Ping, Trumps' heroes so that we could, they hope, one day join the Axis of Evil in hell with Saddam and Hitler.
NineRider is literally bashing a president that puts dictators in their place. Does he wants us to invade Ukraine with Putin? Or does he want us to worsen our trade deficit with China? Cause Trump did both and Trumpists ate that shit up.
^"It's sooo transparent..."
Your an idiot obsessed by an idea that has been planted in your head by someone who wants you only thinking a certain way while every thing you say you want in a free society is disassembled and when it's over they will kick you to the curb ... you have served your purpose.

@starfish
You are aware that Rudy was a top legal leader in New York right?
He was also probably the best mayor NYC has seen in recent history.
Took over a crime infested city and used law enforcement to make the place significantly safer.
That will never happen with Progressive Democrats in charge.

================================
Not oppose to opening relations with NK. The policies toward NK prior to Trump had not helped at all. Both democratic & republican presidents have been bad with NK policies. So Trump opening relations was welcomed by me.
But lets not pretend that the right wouldn't be calling a democrat president a traitor for meeting with Jong-Un. This is not a hot take.
Bush Jr was highly criticized by his own party for taking NK off the state sponsorship of terrorism list when Bush Jr was tying to cool tensions with NK.
Conservatives have always been hawkish with NK so spare the bullshit.

The media divide us by spewing false and biased information. If not for that we'd all more or less agree on most matters.
^ True. As Orwell said “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.” We’re already there. People lack too much self awareness to even realize how shallow and limited their understanding is. Too much ego involved.
I just read Kim Jong sent a missile in direction of K Harris flight as she left S Korea.
Whilst she has absolutely 0 diplomatic ability, she is still the sitting VP and I find that type of aggression worthy of a spanking.
So N Korean missiles are inaccurate ?
"The media divide us by spewing false and biased information. If not for that we'd all more or less agree on most matters."
Fantasy. Various media outlets exist as is because of customer demand, which is heterogeneous.
^ implicit bias against homos?
Shame on you!
