Because it’s another insult white liberals are launching at Latinos.
Spanish is a gendered language and Latinx is white liberals attempting to erase Latino culture and trying to tell Latinos what their culture should be and what they should be referred to as. The only Latinos I know of that use Latinx or Latine in reference to themselves are stereotypically “white washed” and very liberal.
