Similarly, I've asked some I've frequented to re-rate me, too... as it's good to have current ratings.

I've done that too. I had clients asked me to rerate them as they wish to remain current with their ratings/ sometimes clients stay with regulars for quite some time. it doesn't hurt to re-rate on both ends. I wonder if the client was level 2 when he re-rated me and now level 3 if that would make a difference in my own overall totals........ mmmm something to think about.

Since some people look at how recent a member has been active, it is always a good idea to "refresh" or redo a network rating with subsequent visits.

I don't think rerating changes the date of the original rating. Can someone else chime tell us what is the correct answer. I remember rerating or moving someone to very safe and the date not changing

If you click on the "hourglass" in the network settings, you can see if they have been re-rated and the dates.
