Zillow may be a good place to start to find out the affordability of the city that you want to move to.
|

Don't use zillow!
Use Redfin instead. The data is much more accurate.
But the best way is to talk to someone that knows the areas you're looking in and has access to the MLS, maybe you can convince them to let you use their log in, that way you can do your own searches.

Have you been there lately?
I know a few ex Cali residents that went to Texas and Arizona and are moving back because opportunities and supplies are harder to get.

Rent something in an area you want to live and bite the bullet on acquisitions until summer/fall/winter 2023. A bunch of 3/30 and 5/30 ARM's are coming that will force people to dump properties. Probably see a run of short-sales again.

Places that are cheaper to live and more affordable in general mean lower pay, fewer good jobs, or lacking in something.
I can't think of other states that make me want to leave California in a hurry, but everyone is different.
