The country isn’t being run into the ground. While inflation is the highest in 40 years, corporate profits are the highest they’ve been in 70 years. Biden is going after corporate greed which is one of the biggest factors causing inflation. He’s threatening to disgorge the 6 oil companies that made $100 billion in profits last quarter. Releasing our strategic oil reserves also helped drop gas prices significantly.
I’m sure you heard that inflation numbers released today dropped by a much larger amount than expected.

I don’t like that Dems promoted the worst Rep candidates (who are clearly easier to beat in elections), but if you don’t want your bad choices to be used against you, maybe pick better candidates.

Inflation is being CAUSED by corporate greed. The higher prices that we are paying is the result of corporations inflating prices far above the increase in their costs (thus, higher profits). That is caused by price fixing. The same thing is happening with food suppliers. They've used the pandemic, Ukraine war, etc., as excuses to raise prices.
As you should know, increased fuel prices will affect every sector of the economy since all products are transported to consumers. So increased transportation costs (due to increased gas prices) will be passed down to consumers (via increased prices for the products they buy) to offset the increased transportation costs. Forcing oil companies to reduce their prices will also reduce inflation across the board.

Inflation is caused by too many dollars chasing too few goods. Supply and demand. When the goods are scarce even the manufactures and distributors pay more to renew their supplies ... all prices go up at every point in the distribution chain... the people who get the worst of it is the consumer... but when the consumers have to make hard choices about what to buy the business tiers suffer as their good become more of a not necessary item for purchase.
You know this you just avoid talking about it.

Supply and demand determining prices is correct when the market is fully open and competitors are freely able to enter the market to complete, which determines the fair price for goods.
The market for oil is determined based on production levels, reserves, and the release of oil. OPEC and American oil companies can easily affect the price of oil by cutting production and they can decrease the price of oil by drilling more, but they’re not. They want to keep the price of oil artificially inflated to realize greater profits. That’s fine if we are talking about luxury goods that are discretionary, but is completely unacceptable with essential goods such as oil and food.
Our oil industry is a government sanctioned oligarchy which the government subsidizes. Normally, antitrust laws would prevent concentration of market share in only 6 companies, but because the cost of drilling oil is so expensive, the government allows bigger oil companies to exist so that they can better afford to drill oil in the deep sea or in other remote areas. But they’re not drilling more (despite having thousands of rights to drill across the country), so Biden has every right to bitch slap them (by disgorging their excess profits) to stop them from artificially increasing the price of oil to realize record-breaking profits.

At this oint in time the future of the market is artificially restrained so oil production future is diminished by an ever decreasing amount of available sites to drill.

You should know that I think you’re a pretty decent guy based on our interactions before, but you seem almost batshit crazy lately.
Leases and proven reserves may affect a company’s stock price, but it will definitely not affect the current price of oil (and thus gasoline prices). Only oil that has already been pumped out of the ground would affect oil and gasoline prices. If oil companies refuse to pump oil (by not utilizing the leases they have rights to), that directly results in increased oil prices.
That’s why when Saudi Arabia says it will cut oil production, oil prices immediately rise. Conversely, when they say they’ll increase oil production, the price of oil immediately drops.
And if you don’t believe in the existence of climate change and how we affect it, then you’re hopeless. Maybe you should consider thinking for yourself rather than falling for the propaganda paid for by billionaires like Koch.
