Don’t post this .. anyone who drinks and drives should pay the consequences.
You’re not only risking your life, but everyone else as well

hi,
i can see this many ways and thanks for the info.
i agree if you are drinking and driving don't do it.
but maybe the OP was warning people who aren't drinking give yourself time if you are driving that way.
also it can be seen like wow i've been drinking i better not go out, and drive
sorry about your friend fiji, hope they get better.

The only reason I posted it at all was cause it took Uber forever to pick me up and I was warning people of the hold up in case they needed to be home quicker. It has nothing to do with douchebags who deserve to go to jail if they are being dumb and get behind the wheel. The comments I received are exactly the reason I don't post anything on here ever. Next time deal with the hold up if you are in a hurry. Have a safe holiday.
XOXOXO, Shawna

Thanks, op. I don't drink & drive but it's a good general reminder that le is out there checking. I think it's not just to catch people but to deter impaired people from driving in the first place. Your post may have prevented someone from getting behind the wheel.

'Don’t post this .. anyone who drinks and drives should pay the consequences"
There is nothing wrong her posting this. People will still drink and drive this post does nothing to affect that
This is good to know for people who don't want to be caught up in some unexpected check point
LE doesn't prevent crime just respond to it always remember that

Uber/Lyft have eliminated any excuses for drunk driving.
1st offense should be a serious fine and stiff probation.
2nd offense? Not just a few days in County, but a few YEARS in State Prison.
3rd offense? 5 years and driver's license permanently revoked.
4th offense? 20 years.

Uber and Lyft have gone to what is now called Up Front Pricing or UFP. The driver now sees what the earnings will be before they accept the trip. What the rider pays is often 50-60 % higher than what the driver gets.
As a trade off they get to see where the rider is going, how many minutes the trip should take.
IF! there is extra traffic or what ever, the driver does not get paid any more for there time, Sound familiar ?.
As a result experienced drivers are now being very picky as to which trip they will take leaving most unprofitable trips to the newbies. Drivers never profit on short trips.
As a trade off drivers see the trip but are now being paid less especially those that are 10-12 miles +.
So good lucky with that. It maybe a while waiting for someone to accept your trip.

She can post it. Police departments are required to announce it.
The Supreme Court ruled that DUI checkpoints are indeed constitutional, but only if certain procedures are followed:
- Law enforcement must announce to the public the date and time of the checkpoint
- There must be a valid reason for the checkpoint, e.g. drunk driving arrests or collisions are more frequent on a given route
- There must be a specific plan designating which vehicles are to be stopped, e.g. every tenth vehicle
These guidelines are in place to prevent police-state tactics such as singling out drivers because of their race, appearance, or political views (as on a bumper sticker). They also prevent unconscious biases from influencing the process.
