Sounds like a great time. Am leaving for Spain soon too: Barcelona -> Madrid -> Granada -> Seville -> Lisbon, Portugal for New Years Eve on the Tagus River (hotel rooms were crazy expensive).

Good job OP. One of my favorite places. I have good friends in Barcelona, Madrid and Málaga so I get out there often. I'm back out there in the early Spring. Sounds like our paths may cross.

Amsterdam is fun of course
Ibiza and Barcelona were absolutely gorgeous and if you ever get a chance stay at a hotel called Barceló Portinatx. It's adults only, topless pools and breath taking views.. and at the beach (which is topless too) the fishes swim right across your feet. It also has the best the best (oh and did I say the best) food that I've ever had at a hotel.
Have an a wonderful time, be safe and make lots of beautiful memories
Also tell me how Greece is!!! I'm thinking of going next year and would love to hear all about it

And I envy those who feel free enough to do so.
Hell maybe I just need to work more so I can secure the life I have here in Cali while still being able to travel abroad. Problem is if I can't pay cash for it I feel I don't need it! Even if I do deserve it!

Croatia is great as a side trip but my top recommendation is not to miss Italy. Check out Stanley Tucci’s special on Netflix for a taster. I still prefer Spain overall and Madrid especially but Italy is magical. The food, the people and the scenery.

SEE about getting a quick travel agent card
my friend got us one back in 05 before we had a month-plus trip. seemed like we had a few 550/600-per-night rooms go down to 150ish
we got the card very late...maybe a week before the trip, so chances to use it were only at check-in. a couple places, like in venice, said get the fuck out of here with that shit But a few 5-star places in athens, barcelona said no problem. we were booked and staying there regardless and just happened to ask at check-in, which is not ideal btw
coulda saved 5k on the 12cruise, but it was the first thing booked and paid for.
just a thought. maybe start a little schedule C...get a 360camera and write off 75 percent of the trip

I'm traveling with my toy poodle, any advice on taking her. I've done my due diligence and contacted all the airlines but as far as the trip itself how did it go? She has to fly cargo for about 7 hours during the trip over then can be with me the whole time the way back.
AA only ones being weirdos and making me put her a cargo. She is 5lbs. So any advice, thx
I know I need a hard shell carrier for cargo and soft for cabin

consider Global Entry - includes TSA Pre Check - for ease of USA re-entry
Have some mild sedative for your fur baby just in case esp for AAir leg in cargo - ask your Vet
Copy of Passport hidden in luggage somewhere just in case
Noise canceling earbuds or headphones for flights
and take shitloads of photos...
it's gonna be epic

If you go to Greece, I highly recommend going to Santorini. On the island , I suggest avoiding Oia that's the tourist spot, always crowded. The place to eat, drink, and lounge is Perissa and Kamari. And last Pygos is a beautiful spot with building and church which is top of the mountain.

What you should know is that it'll be cold everywhere you go until May.
So, take a jacket and some socks......seriously.
Even Greece will be cold unless a Foehn blows in from Africa.
Malaga to Marbella is all Miami Beach
Catch a ferry out of Algeciras to Ceuta, then over to Tangiers for something different and warmer
The good news is you won't see a lot of tourists Jan to March
