Musk responded that the bans are related to doxxing.

so far, i’ve been able to confirm about half the accounts suspended posted links to the jet tracker thing in violation of the new doxx’ing policy. unclear just yet about the rest, but i think it’s safe to say the rule is for real.
Seems there's plenty of hypocrisy to go around. Or maybe I missed the outcry from CNN, etc. when conservative accounts were banned. BTW, at least some conservatives have been critical of the most recent Twitter bans as well. Again, were was the outrage from the MSM before Musk took over?
He suspended accounts that just posted his planes location.... he hasn't suspended anyone for criticizing him unless they also posted a link revealing his location.
Not hypocritical just consistentwith what he has stated about doxxing since before he ever owned twitter.
Oohh forgot to say.....
Fuck off Rrod
After buying Twitter, Musk tweeted, "My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk."
Lol …Musk can do whatever he wants with his app. Can dedicate the app to posting pics of his hair plugs for all I care.
He is the hypocrite and that is all I am talking about. I am not demanding anything. His talk about free speech is bullshit.
Btw his plane flight tracker is public information. It’s not doxxing.
You say potato I say potato....
Technically you are for putting his and anyone flying with him lives in danger. Is that what you mean? Just checking.

^^ now there is a location coordinates I need to murder that pussy.

@wunanddun
You cannot cry concern of personal safety about sharing information like private jet status knowing full well its publicly available information. Doesn’t really fit the definition of doxing here.
Is Elon concern he going to be taken out by a SAM missile up in the air? Or he worried about bandits waiting for him on the tarmac at his arrival destination?
I never thought they should have banned Trump or any of those bozos spreading misinformation.
(Ok a two-week cooling off period for Trump after the January 6 riot was ok. Things were very tense then due to both a really bad winter of COVID and the election, and to me, Trump’s words were riling his people up).
They should have stuck to (and should still stick to) having "added content." Nothing wrong with countering speech with more speech.
So just giving you one more chance to clarify where you stand on this
...
A person with the intent of accosting Elon ... instead tracks down his 2 year old son using the publicly available information. And you are like...... "S'all good!!"
I get it the information is publicly available .... but the use of that information to harass an individual or worse IMO should be restricted. In other words ... "reputable journalists" shouldn't be acting like a bunch if mean girls just for the grievance porn they will be posting after the fact.
Stalking is wrong. Is this the answer you waiting for?
according to the story you provided no official police complaint has been submitted. We totally have to buy 100% what Elon is saying and that gives me pause. Elon is making a huge assumption that the guy was there cause of the Elon Jet tracker account on Twitter.
This new definition of doxing is going to be hugely inconsistent in policing. If you were to post a picture of Nancy Pelosi at Disneyland on Twitter then you just violated Twitter’s doxing policy.
musk thought he was an assassination risk lately...so lil ole plane location info could be something he changed his mind on.
There is a reason I hate Disney.... not the company the parks.... and now you just gave me reason to hate it more.
She'll be dead in a few years and maybe I can return to a milder level of hate for the parks. But until then it's detest DL and DW to my fucking core.
Rrod I got ya but also....
"reputable journalists" shouldn't be acting like a bunch of mean girls just for the grievance porn they will be posting after the fact."
OP is a congenital whiner at all times
Funny how he never posts a whine when a Dem acts hypocritically, though
Gosh, maybe they never do
according to the story you provided no official police complaint has been submitted. We totally have to buy 100% what Elon is saying and that gives me pause. Elon is making a huge assumption that the guy was there cause of the Elon Jet tracker account on Twitter.
Where to begin?
So you would have us believe that CNN et.al posted a link to an app that allows people to track Musk because ...why? They thought they were helping to connect him with his fans?
There's certainly a more direct and plausible link between the tracking app and the stalking incident than there is between "hate speech" and actual violence. The Left has built an entire culture around the concept of words as violence. I saw Ellen Paige blame Mike Pence for the Jussie Smollet hoax. Only she didn't even realize it was a hoax. Every journalist and talking head was blaming Republicans for the recent nightclub shooting in Colorado. That is, until we found out that the shooter was "nonbinary:. Oh, then they didn't want to blame ANYbody.
Every time a conservative opines on immigration, abortion, same-sex marriage, transgenderism, grooming, what have you, it's the LEFT who always says, "Shut UP! You have no voice here! Your words are a dog whistle! You are putting people at risk!"
So forgive me if I'm not buying your "show me the connection" argument.

Private ownership or management of these social media platforms is ultimately going to lead to some form of censorship that some disagree with. A way to counter this is to have a diverse, independent oversight board. Diversity here not only includes background but also points of view (democrats, republicans, etc). A truly unbiased random sample of our country.
Someone tried to attack his kid. He's banning accounts that dox him and other people. There are still plenty of people on Twitter who criticize him, every day.
Leftoids at Twitter were banning and censoring people just for expressing an opinion (or a biological fact, in some cases), sharing information that would hurt the Biden campaign, or saying things in regard to covid that have turned out to be true.
Supposedly, things they were banning were "dangerous misinformation" or "hate speech" or whatever. Meanwhile, they think they're allowed to post things that actually put people in physical danger.
It's the same as banning Antifa accounts that use Twitter to organize illegal activity. The address of the local court house, or police chief's home, is all publicly available information too. But when that information is being used to target and threaten people, then it's a problem.
If any right-wingers do the same, they should also be banned. This is one of the few things that you're actually justified in banning. Doxing, TOU stuff, illegal activity, and direct threats of physical harm to certain individuals.

i support Musk, just bough a dz stocks in tesla..
So you bought the stock that fElon dumped?
yes sire - i think he "dumped" it to finance the acquisition of twitter.
tesla has a lot of potential, they are coming out with 500 mile semi trucks now
cybertruck next - yeah this stock is a long investment, i am not a day trader..
"Private ownership or management of these social media platforms is ultimately going to lead to some form of censorship that some disagree with."
Wow... suddenly when lefties are getting axed and for good reason private ownership is a problem.
Twitter has been run amok by leftists banning conservative voices and suppressing free speech for a long time.
If you complain we had to hear...
"TwITteR iS a prIvatTe cOmPanY!"
Elon is bringing far more balance and exposure than we could have expected to happen
^ Exactly
Suddenly we need an "oversight board"
Who was overseeing it before?
typical laughable libby arguments...very sad
@Rrod.... just found out this tidbit today Elon files for a PIA every month .... that is a way to make private his Jets movement but apparently someone has found a way to figure out where is is by tracking down what class of Planes have let from Elons last reported on city. That's not exactly publicly available information. That's stalking.
Every social media platform and even Google started as private companies. Private isn't the problem here it's blatant disregard and absolute refusal to abide by the spirit of section 230 as well as the governments role in surveillance otherwise law abiding people communicating their thoughts and ideas and punishing them for no other reason than they do not like what they have to say.
The argument that they are a private company is bullshit because section 230 holds them not responsible for what is legally communicated on their platform so long as they do not act as an editor.... or that how I understand it to be.
I'd be happy to hear a lawyer explain the finer points and even explain how I am wrong.
Elon Musk just dropped part six of the "Twitter Files."
Documents prove the FBI was directly colluding with Twitter to shut down free speech.
In just two years, Twitter's top censorship chief had over 150 emails from the FBI — 150!
His inbox was filled with emails like this:
"FBI, San Francisco is notifying you the below accounts may potentially constitute violations of Twitter's terms of service."
Really? Was Twitter working for the FBI or was the FBI working for Twitter?
Huge 1st Amendment violation with Govt directly involved
I see Libs/Lefties as self-righteous. They believe whatever they say or do is correct. Everyone else
is wrong. So, they have no interest in other opinions. They are the arbiters of truth.
If they are allowed to continue to control information, it will be the end of HX.
@jackrabbit33, the media says that's fake news, disinformation. Nothing to see here, let's move
on. BTW, the border is secure. Illegal immigration is only a challenge.
I'm just wondering when HX will be required to allow other languages on this site.
Not enough diversity here. Too many English speakers.
@GBD, the Dems are not hypocrites. That word is not in their vocabulary.
In their self righteousness, they will tell you that you are the hypocrite
and should be banned from HX. Your opinion is a danger to others.
You are a threat to democracy.
There's nothing hypocritical. No one on the left is calling this a First Amendment issue, which it is not. The only person hypocritical in this episode is Elon Musk trying to make Twitter into an ideologically "free speech" platform, then banning people because he has a thin skin. Yet, he and Twitter are private entities and they can do whatever they want to drag their own platform through the mud. The government is not "oppressing" us through Elon Musk. It's just one man and his bad business decisions.
Of course, conservatives have no idea what the role of government is, what a private business is, what capitalism is, and they've obviously never read the Constitution, so this probably went --whoosh-- over their heads.
Conservative trolls stalk and harass people all the time, yet Musk reinstated all their accounts. Just admit it, he just likes to feel like he's in control. He doesn't give a shit about free speech at all lol
^ so let's get this straight...
You think the FBI working directly with Twitter to specify which conservatives should be banned while Antifa runs free online organizing riots is within the norms of how Govt should operate?
Seriously... it's the Libs that always say that the 1st Amendment isnt absolute.
The role of govt is limited.
Here is something you may want to read...
The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects FREEDOM OF SPEECH, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Article VI of the Constitution states the principle of constitutional supremacy that guarantees limited government and the rule of law: “The Constitution and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof . . .
I don't feel there should be oversight at Twitter all of a sudden because there is a more conservative-friendly owner now.
Rather, from the recent exposé, it's become clear to me that there *should* have been independent oversight of censorship at Twitter during the previous regime.
I don't feel that this has changed because Musk is the new owner.
I've heard Musk may have censored members of the press the other day independently of the doxxing incident. Not 100% sure of this.
he has talked of being assassinated in recent weeks so doxing is a little concern and against the stated rules
believe he let them back on after a POLL
let's just let all the shit come out
no matter HOW they think they're going to spin the interference...it woulda changed things. so they will ultimately give an OOPS our bad and move on to the next
Lol. Elon Musk lying about stalker story.
“LOS ANGELES — A confrontation between a member of Elon Musk’s security team and an alleged stalker that Musk blamed on a Twitter account that tracked his jet took place at a gas station 26 miles from Los Angeles International Airport and 23 hours after the @ElonJet account had last located the jet’s whereabouts….”
The guy is a sad sorry sack of shit. Could have kept his legacy of a super genius intact but insist on keeping his mouth open.
Being born into wealth just doesn’t make you into a genius.

Since it was Twitter Gen-Z employees demanding that Twitter execs ban Trump
I'll just leave this right here...........
"Yes, Twitter employees equated Trump’s description of his 75 million voters as “American Patriots” to the Holocaust. And about an hour later, Twitter announced that it was permanently banning Trump from the platform “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”
The journalists examining the Twitter files detail a long list of world leaders who were not suspended or banned from Twitter for writing direct calls for violence and genocide, including Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who called Israel “a malignant cancerous tumor” that has to be “eradicated.” Also allowed to remain on the platform: former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who tweeted, “Muslims have a right to be angry and to kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past.”
Personally, I don't give a shit about Twatter.
But apparently a bunch of cunts do.
The whole thing is and always has been a shit show.
For all the outrage from the right wing that the previous Twitter regime favored Democrats and Liberals, studies show that this was false. Details stupid show that Twitter algorithms favored and amplified right wing users and posts.
To summarize Twitter tried to play both sides and keep em happy. The entire Twitter Files thing is nothing groundbreaking.
All the drama now is the hilarity where Elon keeps stepping on his own dick. Guy is tanking his image and brand by the minute. Bankruptcy is coming soon for Twitter cause no way Elon and his business partners can profit and pay that $44b tab.
Ok .... sooo the elevation of a particular tweet other through measurable organic metrics is something you are in favor of?
I get that some voices are more authoritative than others... but what is revealed by what you have stated is that there was an artificial method by which certain voices were elevated.... and let's not forget conservative is a broad term .... you could say Mitt Romney is a conservative voice .... twitter could elevate that voice .... and most conservatives would say that is a problem.
So let's be honest.... Twitter 1.0 put its thumb on the scales and elevated voices for reasons of shaping opinion in the way they deemed appropriate. And that breaks any argument that they were fair... they weren't we all know it.
he's probably put a few dollars away...just in case it all comes crashing down.
don't think he cares too much about it at this point
kinda fun watching you guys jump in front of this train
@wunanddun
I didn’t say I cared one way or the other. I am simply pointing out that Twitter didn’t necessarily have a political bias. Lot like what we saw in Facebook in mid 2010s. Interaction and activity was above all anything that mattered. They were amplifying known foreign trolls because it was driving interaction.
Only moved around chairs to show its customers and employees they were doing something. I mean why wait til January 2021 to ban Trump? Doesn’t make sense. He been spewing the same bullshit for years.
Sorry but $44b is a huge chunk of money to anyone including Elon. It’s not all of his money too. He wasted his Saudi pals money too.
He cares. He just can’t stand looking like a complete tool at moment. He is looking for an out.
too frigging funny dude
"...studies show that this was false"
BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!
Did you get that from Mother Jones? From former Twitter employees? You would have us believe that Twitter was NEUTRAL?
Trump was banned, That's a fact. No study is needed. Conservatives banned. Fact. No study needed. Physicians questioning lockdowns and the vaccine were banned. No Study needed. The FBI worked with Twitter to target tweets and accounts that were unfavorable to Biden. Fact. No Study needed. Many employees objected to the Musk takeover while openly admitting that they didn't want Trump supporters to have a voice.
"Studies". LOL. Get out of town with that BS. Might as well be "anonymous sources".
