There have always been global "resets" and always will. But we survive them and usually come out of it stronger. I'm referring to the most recent including the 1928 flu pandemic (50 million deaths), WWI (20 million), WWII (70 million), and not so recent Mongol Invasion of 1206 (approx. 40 million).
Considering the world population in the year 1206 (360 million), the Mongol Invasion was probably the biggest "man-made reset" at over 10% of the world population - unless of course, you consider the Plague of 1350 (approx.) which eliminated 100 million people from the face of the planet when the world population was approx. 350 million. That is a whopping 29%!
Yet our civilization always survives and gets stronger, developing better tools and techniques for survival.
