2000 - 2013
sure some challenge due the great recession but didnt hit me too hard.
the possibilities were endless, it was like open range.

Especially back then, when the population was high and you had many more options.
In the last few years, probably starting in 2008-to-2019 when we had a recession followed by covid, the site changed. Now every other classified posting comes from the AMPs (no disrespect meant), many providers decided to get out of California and other newer sites (PD, Tryst) thinned the HX crowd.
Which doesn't mean HX is fading, it's just the market is changing. Get us out of inflation and prices may come back to reality ($500 for an hour is pretty high), especially when the drag-along has caused may providers to charge higher to keep pace with the PAWGS, newbys and take advantage of the market changes.)
It's really as simple as why eggs cost more in California than anywhere else.

2008 to 2015 was sweet. The gals that were on board were way different. We weren't flooded with CL and Backpage rejects. Yes I said rejects.
The original HX cast was top notch. It actually was a family. Never had any problems like today. Douchebags, Robs, Non service phony ads. The ladies were mature even the young 18ish and always made sure you were happy. We even had ladies that would make good on flakes and missed appointments. Networking actually meant something. Leveling up actually showed a solid member.
Forgetaboutit, the gatherings. From dance party's, to BBQs and yes we also kicked off the OG Happy Hour in the IE.
Burnt Out Syndrome, too many years. But really for me, it's the class of people. I miss the genuine brotherhood and sisterhood we had back at inception.

And for my two cents, the site is wayyyyy past its golden age. Now filled with racist blogs and asshole guys, and ladies who pop in for a quick come up - which is fine - but there's no continuity. There used to be holiday parties and socials and group stuff. Backpage closing definitely hurt the community here, as this was insulated and felt way more communal than transactional. it's also too many hoops to get points.
The good thing is that I got to experience it starting in 2013, and can say that my Network has lost more great ladies to attrition, than most have ever even had the pleasure of visiting.
Used to bring champagne, my pen, and had sooooooo many great visits.
It really feels now like it's time to go.

i would say 2008 to 2014 would be the golden age of hx. experiences were different, socials and just the overall community.

2008-2016 was the Golden Age of HX.
Especially when CL, BP and even Redbook was still around, there was a lot of active members which meant A LOT of competition. So you'll see the most amazing rates and even more amazing services being offered in order to stand out among the rest. One lady offered something, another lady would offer more and better to get you to see her. A lot more independent ladies too and lots of ex-Pornstars. HX did felt like a family, especially since people who were harmful were getting called out and kicked out of the site as quickly as possible. Some even try to get back in and failed as we noticed it was them. Amazing times.
Then 2017 came and it started to go down. A new Bill was passed that help shut down certain sites and scared the crap out of active members that they started to leave. Just like what davidpdavid said that it's now filled with racist blogs and asshole guys due to them being unleashed after hiding in their shit filled caves for so long. Also, many ladies that used to be active and posting for so many years started to only post once every 4-6 months. But it wasn't too bad for a couple of years until...
2020 happened. The Pandemic scared away too many active members that we never heard from them again. The stimulus payouts made it worse as they had no reason to be in HX during that time. Blogs were getting worse with all the Political post from those same cave dwellers that were unleashed to the open. Scams through Cashapp and Venmo deposits is becoming a problem now. Tryst, PD (which were known for having banned HX Ladies) and OF started to get big so more were leaving for those sites.
Not sure what the future will hold for HX, but I'm not counting on the site going back to the Golden Age again.

plus now you can just get the minimal effort but the rate they ask for is like it was the top notch experience.

I agree with most of the above posters! I joined 2014 from SD and met Tankman" solid dude" at a few of the costa mesa socials and HX crew and ALL my dates where from girls i met in person there. I have always been gun-shy pulling the trigger on just daily classifieds girls i never met in person.
I came from old SDASP site and same there we had socials every other Thursdays and events like Xmas socials, BBQ'S, House party's etc.
We looked out for each other most part and 86 bad characters when they popped up. Guys and girls.
Past four or five years site is not what it used to be and with the backpage shutting down and economy going to shit seems a lot of grifters, hustlers, robs, GPS .... i find my self less interested on this site as of late.

I used to play here twice a month, now is like twice a year
I play more in TJ now than before hopefully some day things will get back to normal

I started playing here in 2008, after my divorce, and met quite a few wonderful ladies. I think the respected Velvet was my first, and she was so pleasant that I stopped dating and enjoyed the diversity. There was a group out of Canada that would come through L.A. on a regular basis, and my first Canuck was a petite frenchie who didn't speak much english, but the experience was incredible.
I restarted a few years ago, after my final relationship died. I rarely give negative ratings because I can't downgrade someone who made a date with an old heavyweight and didn't give a 100% effort. But two experiences here last year sent me off to PD and Tryst, and the best I can say is no one at either place tried to steal my wallet or upsell me.
My big regret is not seeing Gina Galaxy. I went to one of her gatherings and it was a nice time and met nice people. Seems like her departure and that of a few veterans was kind of the line in the sand for what HX once was.
Much luv to the community. Now if we could just ban political masturbation on the blogs.

I miss all the big parties we had. Mardi Gras, Valentine Days, Halloween, and the Christmas party. They were fun and a great way to meet everyone.

I agree with what many have already shared - there was a great sense of community back in the day.
