And those greedy assholes in Sacramento now want to initiate a 'wealth' tax, charging 1% wealth tax every year.
So, people who worked hard, had some great innovation, took risks and achieved great wealth somehow should just keep paying more and more to others who didn't work as hard, create innovation, risked everything, etc.
Soon, there will be NO incentive for anyone to do anything and then our society will collapse.
Socialism always fails because the system runs out of other people's money when those people stop earning.

Article says for those making over a million income, anyone here actually make that?
Not one of these broke bastards do make over 1 mil.
If they did, they wouldn't complain of rate increases like they do.
witler...
What difference does it make? The State already has the highest State income tax in the country.
Maybe instead of raising taxes, they look at cutting spending.....
There is so much waste in government. How about the unemployment benefits paid to inmates during Covid.....$400 million
And how about that bullet train that was supposed to go from LA to San Francisco. But it only goes from Bakersfield to Merced. $20 billion already and nowhere close to where it was supposed to go.
The last estimate I saw was over $107 billion to actually get from LA to SF, although I think those plans have been informally scrapped.

Is there anything you whiny effeminate bitches do not complain about like teenage girls 24 hours a day? Get a hobby, play the field, hug a puppy. Your incessant jeremiads are aesthetically displeasing to well rounded observers.
I’m all for cutting taxes, just don’t think this one too much concern after reading it a bit more detail
so inmates get for being incarcerated, free housing, free foods, free Gym, and on top unemployment benefits? They already cause the system a good deal of money to keep them for injuring other innocent people.

This is great news
The marginal rate should be 100%
After your first dollar
CA, NY, NJ & IL
All losing population to other states
20 which have LOWERED their tax rates and gone to a flat tax
Newsome should've been strangled in the crib
Bring back Trumpy and linch those Sacramento basters
People's discretionary income is quickly disappearing.
This is bad news for HX.
Dems just love paying more taxes. 👍🏻

Seemore,
You know not of what you speak. In my business, I lose a lot of clients.
Why? Those clients are business owners/entrepreneurs who earn the kind of money that will be taxed by California. They run and pay into their own profit sharing/retirement plans. Depending on how they are set up, they are required by law to start paying themselves mandatory distributions, often around age 62-65.
When they take those distributions, they are taxed. California will hit them for 14.4%. Many of them are taking $250K a year or more. They have been taxed to death already by this state. They have raised their (mini-humans), kept them in the same neighborhoods and schools so as to not uproot them. But they are done when these distributions start.
They are now in Texas, Florida, Idaho, and Tennessee. One by one, they all leave, including a very famous local athlete client/friend of mine...bailing to Tennessee. That's what happens.
^^^
Yellow is right, as soon as I hit 62, perhaps 65, I'm outta here.
Move out of state, and Boom, that's an extra minimum 10% that I will be getting.
Oh, and a lower general cost of living as well?
No brainier.
I'll cash out & take my money with me.
screw nuisance and all the left wing socialists. the more business's they lose, and the more rich people who leave, leaves them in a bind to raise taxes on the poor folks stuck here
wait til that asshole schitt runs for senate
Okay, if taxes are bad, move. No one is forcing anyone to live in Cali. Shit, I moved to New Mexico and I love it.
Shelby....
It isn't always that easy.
If a person's business is tied to CA and they have all their family here, it makes it far more difficult to do so.
Why can't we vote out all the assholes in Sacramento and start over, with less taxes and far less government spending?
too many brainwashed lemming socialists in this state
Yes, Face, the idiots who voted for the gas tax need to have their heads examined. Many didn't realize that the tax was NOT a one time thing, but increases annually.
Just give the government a blank check to keep spending more of your money.
“ Article says for those making over a million income, anyone here actually make that?”
You missed this line:
“ Those making between $61,214 and $312,686 would pay 10.4%.”
It’s currently around 9.3% in that range.
I'm from England and I think democrats are traitors as far as I can tell. The open boarders policy is such an affront to the US citizenry. 5 million since pedo Joe got in OMFG

^ 🚨🚨🚨 WINNER WINNER 🚨🚨🚨 ^
OMG... and they claim they "inherited" the problem when in fact they revoked the very policies which had lowered illegal crossings to a level unseen in 20 years when Biden took office.
I wish my taxes here going higher. Making a million dollars a year sounds pretty good.
Poor wealthy can’t catch a break.
So how come every time those bastards say "tax the rich" I end up paying more?!
No, I don't make anywhere near a mil a year.
Assholes!
The corruption cancer has spread to most parts of the country.
There is only one political party - The Ruling Class and their Administrative State minions.
The fight is here; first fix the election system.
If it can't, it will be entertaining to watch the collapse.
Look up the Cloward–Piven strategy.
Isn't Newsom a millionaire? So he certainly likes taxing himself. LOL
You often hear Dem politicians always saying how some bill will
benefit the rich. But they forget to mention they are one of millionaires
who will benefit. LOL
being a millionaire and making million are two diff things
Sounds like you should move to hot, moist Florida where there is no income tax…no libraries, no decent public schools or universities AND No parks, no public transportation. So, no income tax but property tax rates at 2% of fair value and oh windstorm insurance of 1% of properties fair value. You pay one way or the other…Finally, as this is about the so called wealth tax, if you are living in Laguna hills or Laguna woods I sincerely doubt you will be affected by same.
Hmm looks like this does raise taxes for regular people too, I didn’t have the current tax rates by income on the top of my head at the time.
OK, while I do not now the State Constitution from memory, I thought that that document had an amendment, voted in via proposition some time ago, that any tax increase needed to be passed by a vote from the voters of the state not those in Sacramento?
Again, I am not sure if this but there is a nagging voice saying that is the case....
Thanks

Hey OCGuy....make sure you get your facts correct.
First I don't live in Laguna Hills/Laguna Woods. Just use that for my 'location'.
And better check up about those schools. California schools have been spiraling downward and have been doing so for a decade or more.
Here are two rankings
Worldpopulation Review
CA Overall rank 40 Quality 35 Safety 51
FL Overall rank 18 Quality 14 Safety 20
Forbes
CA Overall rank 37 Quality 38
FL Overall rank 22 Quality 19
You can't just look at property tax rates.....it is rate times home value. Here is a study of median home prices in each state and the actual taxes paid based upon that state rate.
CA Median home rate 0.76 Median home value $505,000 property tax $3,818
FL Median home rate 0.89 Median home value $215,300 property tax $1914
State Sales Tax
CA 7.5%
FL 6.0%
Overall Transportation Ranking
https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/infrastructure/transportation
CA 45
FL 19
Outside of LA and SF, have you tried to use public transportation? You are in OC...try to get anywhere on the bus...REALLY, you are going there....
ca schools are rated 48, lets keep pumping money into the teachers union til we hit 50
Jazz, nice solid references.
But I'm afraid your facts will fail to make an impression.
Seems to me that many, especially those on the left that tend to favor large government will ignore facts and think from the heart..... no matter how wrong they may be.
^^^
Sadly, spot on and quite the unfortunate truth...
remo, I totally agree with you.
Somehow in our society, we have far too many people who lack critical thinking skills.
They merely listen to what a politician says or now, even worse, what a 'journalist' or 'news commentator' says and they do not source the statements or comments.
They believe blindly that the people "in the know" or 'in power" are trustworthy and speak the truth. Alas, they are duped and follow like blind sheep.
You can't believe Fox, CNN, MSNBC, none of them. You must hear what is said and if it is something 'critical' you need to check the facts. And you can't even believe the 'fact checkers' as they have their own biases.
Probably the most egregious comment was about the CA schools. California used to lead the nation in the educational system. We have been spiraling downward for quite some time. Some sources list CA even lower, often hovering in the bottom 5-10.
California spends about 33% more than Florida and achieves far worse results.

Gonna go a little nuts here and confess that, outside of a few very populous states on the coasts
Many Democrats are sane middle of the roaders
There's just this peculiar form of brain dead entity called ........ a Progressive
That's bat shit crazy and can't process a rational logical thought
Example:
Idiot Biden is full tilt EV, spending huge amounts of money subsidizing relatively wealthy peopie buying Teslas while cheap EV's meant for commuting don't even get built, much less sold.
Meanwhile, the same idiot has his bureaucracy fighting every US based project that provides the raw materials to his subsidized EV foir the wealthy program.
Subsequent raw material provisioning is forced overseas thereby outsourcing the jobs, payrolls, taxes AND the higher levels of pollution elsewhere........as i f we dont all live in the same enclosed ecosystem.
Does this sound like the thinking of sane people?
Actually, they are dangerous criminals that should be on a hit list.
Anyone wonder why light pickup trucks have been subsidized by exemption from emission standards............since the 1970's?
Or, why freight trucking causes 99% road wear but only pays for 35% of the cost?
There are thousands of these examples, if you just look around
We're all essentially ruled and guided by a faceless unknown bureaucracy of people who........quite literally, wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for job designation........"regulators
By the way, twat Lina Kahn just lost her first big antitrust case against Meta.....dumbshit that she is
Progressives LOVE regulators
They give orders.......like a Nazi
And, are answerable to almost nobody.
And the CA Middle Tax Relief money now might be taxed by the Feds....LOL. Giveth and then taketh away.
Anybody get one of those Newsomne relief checks?
I didn't
