To add to this, McDonigal is suspected of feeding the NYTimes the story that Trump was absolved of any connection to the Russian, which helped him win the presidency over Clinton:

Biden can be for low oil/gas prices (high gas prices is the primary cause of inflation) while encouraging the purchase of EVs and the use of green alternatives to fossil fuels. These are not mutually exclusive.

Russian gas is still being sold to Europe via Egypt and other counties but at much higher prices.
But if Germany wanted to continue buying Russian gas secretly, blowing up a small portion of the pipeline in relatively shallow water (then repair it) acts as a cover to continuing to sell gas through that pipeline.

Yes. Selling our gas there would increase our prices here (by decreasing our available supply), which doesn't make sense politically when Biden is desperately trying to keep inflation in check.
