Bill Walton was one of the greatest basketball players ever. Nobody has ever come close to his stats in the 1974 NCAA title game where he made 21 of 22 shots from the floor. Or his UCLA teams record of 86 wins and 4 losses.
But when I think of him, it was his role as a color commentator on Pac-12 games that comes to mind first. He would fuck with his on-air partner to their face, just talking shit directly to them, and then go off for a 2 minute rant that was a combination lesson on history, theology, literature, music, agriculture, politics and philosophy. One of the most well read people in the history of broadcasting.

So tragic. He was an amazing man, Hall of Fame player, and expert commentator, I have total respect for him.
I am a huge Grateful Dead fan (sorry to any of you haters), and so was Bill. He went to his first show in 1967 and it was estimated he attended 850 shows in his lifetime.
I saw the Dead at the Ventura County Fairgrounds (great venue right on the beach), and Bill was onstage and backstage the whole show wearing his Celtics jacket and tie-dye. He reportedly wore tie-dye t-shirts under his suits when commentating games, and he would regularly slip in Grateful Dead innuendos into his commentary sometimes subtly, sometimes not lol
A great man who left his family and this earth too soon. Any man over 45 reading this should go get your PSA test, it is serious shit, but early detection can be a big help.
On to the next chapter William (Bill) Theodore Walton III...
"What a long strange trip it's been"...

PSA is only accurate 80% of the time.

Psa can be tracked over years and if it increases dramatically beyond your age parameters , it’s best to have a biopsy.
