What is it called when for instance a client of yours wants a website built but wants a hidden page within that public link?

Example: iam trying to build a public site- but I want a private site within that (aka for all of you) I know itā€™s possible- Iā€™ve ve seen it.

Kind of like a secret society within a public domain.

As always someone will steal my idea, but I dont care. You canā€™t t out beat a creative but you can copy me.

Helpppppp. If you are an IT Tech Wizard willing to assist. Iā€™d be happy to allow you in as a partner. I am wanting everything to be done legally correct.

Ultimately my goal is employ women like me to sell a product and gain commission to show proof of income so that they can obtain housing themselves.

Something Iā€™ve always struggled with. Itā€™s s definitely possible with the right setup- and IF YOU ARE THE IT MAN. Iā€™d love to give you the opportunity as an investment.

Every business I have done has been amazing, only this time i dont have capital. Iam learning on my own but the one thing I cant risk is the IT back side.

Let me know if your myguy

It will be pivotalāļø

And to the two gentleman that sent me a check and a gift card: this is what Iā€™ve been working on to make it out of the trenches. Thank you so much. That one day I literally just needed $1 for Canva for the month. Iam so thankful ā™„ļø

There's a couple ways to achieve what you're talking about:

1. Password Protected Pages: These are pages that enter a password to view the content. Everyone shares the same password and anyone who knows the password can view the pages. A common example would be a wedding site where you need to enter a password to view all the details.

2. Membership Pages: This is different from the above in that you need to have an account to view the pages. Accounts usually consist of an email and password. This has a lot more security and also allows for more interaction, roles, restrictions, etc (just like HX).

2. Hidden Pages: This is the least secure because there is no protection. If someone finds the page, they can view it, but you can "hide" these pages by not listing them in your site's navigation and telling Google not to search for it.

You can achieve most of these with any of the major website platforms such as Wordpress, Squarespace, Wix, etc. These sites are a lot more "static" in that they're usually one way with the website owner sharing information to visitors. If you want a more "dynamic" site with interactions between users, etc then you probably need a custom site + backend.

Happy to chat more if you need input

What sonderandtime said is pretty much on the money. Wix and the like provide one a quicker pathway although with limits.

It also might be an affordable option until you're ready to scale up your endeavor. Then it makes sense to hire web devs and back-end engineers.

I can you help you, Sonya. Just private msg me and maybe we can talk about what you're looking to do. It really kind of depends on your skillset.

As mentioned above, you can use the website builders like Wix and it's a fine way to go. If you're trying to learn programming and want to build a basic website to learn and also run a business, there are better/cheaper options.

I failed to mention šŸ˜« the website is a shop through Shopify. I want to have a hidden shopping section.

You are most likely able to password restrict pages in Shopify

You are correct! This comes with the basic Shopify plan. This started with the idea to create merch for a friend whom passed. I wanted to sell memorial shirts and return the revenue to their families gofundme. I quickly discovered after creating these designs and opening the initial Shopify+ PayPal account the IRS says if you have to pay taxes this is no longer a hobbyšŸ˜«. That being said. One person also cannot own two PayPal accounts. So now I need to generate sales of my own sort of merch to fund this. But since I have dark dirty humor I do not want those items attached to the funeral shirts in plain site. Iā€™ve started my own adult avenues for adult novelty items- but now I need them all under one umbrella šŸ˜«

Am I crazy? Should i just give up on the memorial project and start my own Shopify? But then it brings up the affiliate aspect that Iā€™d like to offer for all of them women on here. Iā€™d have to come up with a program, to be able to employ certain ā€œambassadorsā€. The goal is to get us off the street and find our own housing. I truly believe there is no greater sales driven individual than one in this industry. I see it becoming a movement of empowerment down the line. Call me crazy- but I like it. My ideas always flourish eventually

If you're set on using Shopify, you can use the same Paypal account for multiple Shopify accounts. That means you'll have to own 2 Basic Plans for the duration of the memorial. Alternatively for the memorial you can use a Printify Pop-Up Store, which gives you a very basic storefront for free, provided you use Printify as your drop shipper of course.

It sounds like you first have your normal site for adult novelty items on shopify, but you also want to sell specific shirts to donate those proceeds to a friend's memorial's gofundme.

@rakuen.now is correct that you can use the same paypal account and have multiple shopify stores. You can even have 1 shopify account and have multiple stores within that account. For this you'll need to pay for 2 Basic Plans.

He's also correct that you might want to use a print-on-demand site instead so you don't have to spend capital up front to buy inventory of the funeral shirts. (this is recommended as it's the cleanest option since the funeral merch isn't really connected to your core business)

If you really wanted to sell the funeral merch on your normal site, you would create those products and then create a password protected Collection of those products. Note that you can only password protect collections or pages, NOT products themselves. That means if you have a /products page that lists every product, the funeral merch will show up there. People buying funeral products will be on your normal site, so they'll easily be able to browse your other products (which I think you don't want).

rak + sonder- THANK YOU, sincerely! I was so perplexed as to why my one main shop with my items was uploading fine, but then constant emails from Shopify having the funeral merch being shop under the ā€œsame accountā€ was being disabled.

This now brings up my last concern ( for now) my main shop account aka the umbrella will have my ā€œbusiness nameā€ does that mean under the funeral shop at the bottom of the page will read (for example) Sonya7 powered by Shopify? Iā€™m nervous to pay for a second shop- HA.

Also - YES to POD. I have been using POD with canva for Shopify experimentation. Itā€™s wonderful for zero capital- BUT you do need a little moolah to fund the first few purchases. Everything is such a timely manner when running all of these connected sites on a trial basis. Ha! Any Shopify apps you two would recommend for my adult shop?

Soooo extremely helpful thank you all. It ainā€™t easy, but itā€™s been a great life skill that I will now also have for duh rest of meeeeelife.

I'm assuming Sonya7 is your main account store name. There's no rule that your store name has to reference your real name or business name. Your business entity could own any number of stores, each with their own names. When you create a new Shopify account, you should be able to set a new store name. The only thing in common between the two would be that they are linked to the same Paypal account.

The "Powered by Shopify" thing is a feature of the Shopify theme you're using. You should be able to customize the theme and remove any aspect of it that you don't want being there.

Omg! Pooooof šŸ’„ and just like that my fears have been erased! PayPal and Shopify donā€™t communicate that to you. Initially I started the funeral merch- and then changed my PayPal email to match Shopify thinking I had to for tax reasons- come to find out Papal deactivated my personal and automatically turned it into a business account šŸ˜«

Thatā€™s when I said oh shit all these funneling back to each otherā€™s must have same info across the board. PayPal is not a place you wanna get banned from.

Thank you for clearing that up ā™„ļø
