Italian: Alejo's Presto Trattoria Italian Restaurant in Westchester is pretty good and reasonable.
Mexican: Lots of good Mexican food trucks in Hollywood, and silver lake area. But this is LA, good mexican food is easy to find on any budget
Thai: If you can stand spicy, Jitlada on Sunset in Hollywood is pretty good. Or go on Hollywood Blvd, east of Western, a lot of good mom and pop Thai restaurants that you can try out. Don't go to the night market, it's way over price. If you like street food, go to Thai temple on the weekend in San Fernando Valley, Coldwater Cyn. Lots of good stuff.
