It's been that way for a while. Their priorities:
1) Personal gain
2) Benefit of their party
3) nothing else matters
|

It’s atrocious

Sorry. Grew up on welfare because my dad left my mom with 5 kids. She worked hard and made it out so I could be a suçess. Sometimes you need help.
I'm tired of people that throw rocks at others on welfare. Walk in someone else's shoes.
|

It'll only get worse if 'we' keep electing 'status quo' candidates.

I’m not against welfare I have been on and off it since I was 18 but I do believe some take advantage of the system.

hyder, read the post again. If you still feel that way, don't vote.

You're right. Sorry, had a beer with lunch.

Your lunch was better than mine.

Who? And if they are so what. Nobody needs to criticize anyone for their politics.....It is their business. So sick of this bullsh*t.

Welfare is bad. I mean corporate welfare. Subsidizing businesses, preferable tax rates, tax incentives and general giveaways to the wealthiest 1%. The poor receive a small amount of money, medi-CAL, which is almost impossible to use as few physicians accept it and the earned income tax credit. PEANUTS to what the welfare state does for the hedge funders and American oligarchs. The super rich love dumb people like smitten. Fighting over the fact someone gets a very small social security disability check to just try and survive, while the smart money is earning literally billions and paying a lower tax rate than a mechanic or nurse. THAT welfare state needs correcting. ( I thought smitten was invited to leave due to her and her ex robbing John’s?.)

Let us not forget all the Bail Outs the government has given to Banks, Airlines, Big Oil, only for them to turn around (the same year) and award their C- Levels BILLIONS in bonuses. Hmmmm.

People have said the same shit about the country since the country was founded. And you should develop a sense of self awareness. Some would consider you to be a “reason for moral decay”. Be the best person you can be, let stupid people learn the same lessons you have to, and smile. Even if you don’t feel like it.

so all social programs should be erased? tell that to the hurricane victims.........
|
|
Government assistance programs should be about short term help to get a person on their feet, not a life-long payment.
|
|
So much wrong info here it's pretty pathetic.
Google is your friend.
Multiple sources from different viewpoints will show:
Top 1% pay about 45% of the tax burden.
with about 26% of the income.
These are the facts.
Could they pay more, sure, but seems to me they already pay more than their fair share.
Tax code does many things, one guiding principal:
Tax what you want to want less of.
Don't tax (or tax less) what you want more of (such as home ownership)
But carry on.

Jazz
Definitely agree with you. For example the shit show of the affordable housing bonds for LA. They were spending $600-700K per unit to develop low income housing.
Helping homelessness needs to be "transitory" not permanent.
If we could privatize some of these organizations and get rid of the "legacy" structure that so many have it would be far more effective.
We might be able to make some progress on mental illness.
So many of the homeless are not choosing it.
In CA the Labor laws are way out of control.
We used plenty of food stamps when I was a kid.
I need to hope off my soapbox now.
Regardless of party affiliation.

Taking welfare is better than robbing clients.

Based...

Think about this when Voting. Will a Yes vote Raise taxes ?
If so, then you can pay everyone's fair share.
You do want less people trying to rule over you right ?

Politics aside, there are loopholes and corruption in EVERY government, business, nonprofit, etc. I bet you can literally point to any program with millions in cash flow and find something. Don't listen to disinformation that it's ONLY in some programs and not others. It's EVERYWHERE.
Capitalism is GOOD and should motivate everyone, but too much wealth inequality is BAD
My $0.02... capitalism has been good to me, and I'm okay with a struggling person gaming the system a LITTLE BIT to get a few $$$ extra

OC GUY thinks high corporate tax rates are good...
Corporations get their money from...you guessed it...the People!!!
So if they sell a $100 toaster and make a $20 profit, and the government taxes 15% of that profit, they net a $17 profit.
But if the government sells that $100 toaster and the government taxes their profit at 50%, their profit falls to $10.
So. What is the company to do? They do this: They make the same toaster and sell it for $160 and They make a $32 profit. The government taxes them $16 and they make $16 in profit.
The company still makes their profit...and you that taxpaying citizen consumer takes it in the shorts by having to pay $160 for a $100 toaster.
Liberalism at it's finest.
|
|
Yellow…there you go speaking logically. Far too many liberals refuse to accept facts and actual data. Socialism has failed everywhere, but they think they can make it work. Of course, the people at the top still get theirs.
|
|
the only socialism that is allowed to function is socialism for the rich/wealthy. socialism for the people is attacked and torn down, globally. thats history, not political.
if anyone thinks any modern ameriKKKan politician is a socialist, a communist or even a liberal does not know the true definition of the words, let alone the policies.

Wow pray tell OP- which part of "tHe ComMuNisMs" are you most worried about taking over our country?
Lmfao.
But regardless of how ridiculous your reasons are I can most certainly relate to the embarrassed to be an American sentiment. I'm embarrassed for this country not because our tax dollars bought some hungry kids food with food stamps or let some low income people see the goddamned dentist once in a while but because our tax dollars fund the war for profit machine that is currently undertaking the execution of a full scale genocide in Palestine . Our tax dollars in the hundreds of billions (no hyperbole whatsoever) in military aid to the people dropping 2000 lb bombs on tent cities and evaporating the sleeping families in them. Literally paying to kill dismember and shred the bodies of babies and children by the tens upon tens of thousands. I find moral bankruptcy offensive and even more so when it's institutionalized moral bankruptcy. I'm embarrassed to be an unwilling participant in such terrorism and genocidal greed. 🤢 Every time I hear QueMala giggle on the podium while babies starve to death in Gaza I wanna 🤮. Yeah this country is going down the drain (was there ever a time when it wasn't though? I guess maybe if you're not black or poor). But yeah I agree OP, the USA sucks right now. Super on brand though really. Unsurprising.
Free Palestine. ✌️

Alexisalexis2.0 I agree.

We pay everyone, good, the bad, and the ugly.
If we stop paying countries to kill one another (and us) I think everyone will be better off.
and if we stop paying countries billions of USA tax dollars, guess what, the tax burden on US will be lower.
Republicans have their faults, sure, but Democrats do stupid shit like when Obama "unfreezed" Iranian assets - essentially giving them $150 billion. This is not in dispute.
You know what?
Money is what they call "fungible", meaning it's interchangeable, you give someone money and they can move it around, in short, funding terrorist activities against the 'enemies of iran'
I've attached a link from the first Iron Man - I know the US Government, although this is fictional, the neat death scene is atop a pile of USAID bags of rice that I still laugh about - US Government aid - going into the "Wong" hands.
I might not like a particular politician, but if they get the job done, keep us out of wars, and dosen't fund our enemies, then they do more good than harm.
Not all politicians can say that.
|
|
Someone once said: The US doesn't have allies; it has interests. The US will change policy and stances according to whatever its interests are at that point in time.
You could say the same thing about those in power who run this country or who fund those who run this country.
Look, it's pretty simple. The love of money is the root of all evil. Money itself isn't the issue, but the love of it above all else (because money represents power)...well, you can figure that out.
I look at facts, not ideology. Follow the money and you can see what's important to people. Wanna see what someone values? Just look at how he or she spends his/her money.

Various reports of her husband robbing guys at gunpoint after they leave her incall. She sets up the rob and then acts like she didn’t know. AVOID this ratchet ass whore.

I never knew about his actions beforehand. I left hx after the second incident as I didn’t want anything to happen again. I was abused in my marriage and finally was able to break free. I apologize for everything that happened but I did not know prior to it happening.

It’s pretty easy to fix. People forget about the immigration reform of the 80s and some
Of the reagonomics that took place. These two things were pivotal for people to all of sudden become tax paying citizens and getting a social security to buy be able to get a loan and own property (which is another tax revenue). This helped both immigrants and already citizens. Citizens that were smart and had money went on property shopping sprees in dense and rural areas. Through 2010, everyone who was over 35 already bought up all the best Realestate in most places in America, leaving younger people out of the “best” places to live. Sure… I can buy a house in Modesto… but why the heck do I need to go to Modesto… where’s my chance to chase the American dream in LA?
|
|
Land is finite.
The tax will be paid by whoever owns the property; it doesn't matter who owns it.
I worked my ass off to buy in OC in the 90's, I was in my 20's with a POS car, plain clothes and no going out or partying. I sold it & bought up from there, 2x.
Opportunities can pass you by or disappear before you're ready. But be ready for the next one.
|
|
Socalliam this is true. Whats the next OC? Like I said, I can easily go to Utah, but kinda sucks to uproot and leave like that. Maybe time to get married and go off to Wyoming and hope the next tech boom is there.

I wouldn’t mind the Lancaster area but doubt there will be free ways built or expanded to get into LA. Back in the day, the gov was able to use eminent domain to figure this out, but unfortunately it’s unethical and now a days, they can pay the price dearly. Doubt stuff like that will happen again any time soon. But yes, land if infinite. That why most people have move to Vegas, Texas and other areas or Illinois. People have done the math to commute to other parts of the state via plane to be cheaper than renting in some cities. Pretty gnarly stuff.
