Society has drilled into women's heads since birth that marriage was the Holy Grail and "the big prize", even nowadays when plenty of women can financially take care of themselves and don't have to depend on a spouse. Hopefully that old dinosaur thinking will go extinct and both women and men can enjoy life without being enslaved. We are all sold the fantasy that marriage is a "happily ever after" thing. Based on what I've seen, it's not even close.

What I mean is that you have little or no exposure to women who have been able to make their relationships work and are better people because of the shared success they find in personal growth, professional growth and quality of life.
I know rich shrews and ingrates who are successful but always blame others for their romantic failings, yet believe they are God's gift to mankind and can get any man they want.
I know unfaithful hussies in heat who can't keep their legs closed from other men/women, despite sacred vows to love and honor their chosen partners.
I know dumb bitches that are used and abused by their lovers and are dumped because of delusions of grandeur and no true self-worth/self-respect.
And I know women who have successfully started, kept, and are role models for living a happy married life for a long time.
I know it's not for everyone, but this blanket statement about "slavery" and how marriage is a minus for a woman tells me a lot about who you have in your social circles and what types of people you have been exposed to.

But pretty much anyone here is not ideally suited to be married, given the nature of what we enjoy.

FWIW, I have exposure and access to women across a multitude of social standings, from wealthy to barely making minimum wage and everything in between. While some are very selfish with a large ego, many of them are good solid women just looking for happiness in their lives. Of the ones that are married, not one of them is happy. The happiest ones are the ones that live with their partner but aren't married. And this includes both hetero and homosexual relationships. I'm just saying that piece of paper changes people because of what it signifies and what it stands for.

Most don't know, if a women stays married for 10 years her Social Security goes up about 50%.
And you are missing out on doubling a tax deduction filing jointly.
Is it worth stay together for those ? I can not sit in judgement of that.

of my buddies who are mostly over 50, have been married for 20+ years and have kids over 21 years old, they all have the same to say.
there is no sex in the relationship - whatsoever.
i think the main reason is the wife is now in menopause and have little urge to have sex.
and they start loosing their sexual attractiveness (just my opinion).
the only reason they are not divorcing the wife is financial, they simply cannot or will not afford to get divorced and losing at least half.
i kinda feel the same way though we also have a lot together, its just not romantic nor sexy.
