Ideas in San Francisco Area
Dec 14 2023 12:25PM more by GinaGalaxy
Tags: Bay Area, Leisure (All tags)

Hi!
I have been living outside of CA for over a year, and coming to SF area.

I am treating it like a tourist trip cause it is! So despite the fact SF has bad press over all, I'm sure there's plenty to do.

So far I've found

Science museum: dinosaur, penguins, aquarium, planetarium, and other exhibits

Fisherman wharf for oysters

Trolly car

Golden bridge

Restaurants: going to my fav chains like
Lazy dog, guy kaku, in n out, and somisomi ice creams

Shopping: Macy's and outlets

Looking for maybe something near the beach west of San Jose?

A easy walking trail or nature area?

More restaurant and exhibit ideas are needed!

Post soon!
Thank you

I visited the Bay Model recently, it's cool but was really run down and only partially functioning. SF is a great walking city if you don't mind hills.
I would take a ferry to visit Alcatraz. Then return to the wharf and walk along the water to visit Ghirardelli Square keep walking in the same direction to Fort Mason, have a meal at Radhaus.
Walk up and down Lombard Street and visit the Christmas Tree in Union Square.
The media makes it sound like SF is a huge homeless encampment. It's not. I took visitors from Florida sightseeing there recently who after a week said we see more transients at home than we do here.

I did a wine tour across the Golden Gate Bridge to Napa valley and walked in Muir Woods , it was amazing ,I toured a few wineries for wine tasting , ate at the French laundry Restaurant (super bougie and fancy ), visited China town , Lombard street where the street is like a hill going zig zag, I had Irish coffee at buena vista , I took pictures in front of the painted ladies (the houses that are in the opening scene of full house) , I did the Alcatraz tour , I did a ghost tour , Ghirardelli chocolate shop , Brenda’s soul food is good , visited a few bars in the mission district , haight-ashbury is cool it’s very hippie vibe with cool shops boutiques bars , SF/Bay Area is freezingggg always so bundle up even if it’s sunny outside

I love the Bay Area I tour there often it’s my second home !

I'll never forget.
Once at Fisherman's Wharf, there was this white homeless guy bout 25yrs old in a receptacle peeking out holding a sign that said "WHITE TRASH"
Funniest shit I ever seen. I regret not giving him a 20 or something.
