Putin will never attack a NATO country as he knows that if he did he would meet the same fate as Saddam Hussein.
While not NATO related, Iraq had a formidable 4th largest army in the world, and we dispensed with them in less than 72 hours, soldiers running up for ours with white flags, begging not to be killed.
We are so good at projection power, through the air and by sea, disrupting communications, supply lines, and command and control, that after just a day or two their soldiers are hungry, thirsty, and so shell shocked that they are begging for it to all end.
As an earlier poster said, in a non-nuclear theater of war, the US would dispense with Russia in an extremely short time.
