I love it that some of you are still stupidly hating on solar. During the high gas times I didn't pay a cent to drive my cars. I have three AC units running in the valley all summer and my electric bill is "We owe you."
Keep sleeping on it.
Also...there's a half-life on BATTERY storage because of how fast the tech is advancing...NOT on panels. I've got over 50 on my house and they're all top of the line.

My neighbor paid cash for top line solar about 4 years ago and got money back every month cause the PUC forced Edison to pay 10x the value of his excess electricity. When net metering was nixed, first of this year I think......now his bills are high and he's pissed off that the deal changed lol
His payback period under best case scenario was 8 years, now it's at least double.
So, I guess if you think feeding at the ratepayers trough is a good deal til they goballsdeep in your ass one day........then solar is for you.
CA removed the outrageous subsidies and now the solar companies are laying off and going BK
Not to mention all the panels are made in China, so you're sending your cash to the Chi-coms

the year of installations establish your deal with edison, so if he installed 6 years ago, he will be on the same plan for 20 years.
the net metering 2.0 ended in april 2023, now it is called Solar Billing Plan.

I recall him starting to bitch about a year or more ago, so was def wrong on the timing
But, he's NOT locked into his original plan for sure
They took away his credit for overage electricity and now he pays out of pocket
I don't pretend to know the deal cause I knew it was just more CA subsidized bullshit and never planned to do solar myself.

Buried in the fine print is the fact that EV's get an artificial boost of almost 6x their carbon rating by the Feds. All the car companies are in on it but the Eco-Nuts just objected to it lol. Now that they have to do it on the up-and-up, the car companies WILL NEVER reach their goals and are likely facing BK unless Biden retracts his plan.

Yeah, that wind craze. I was riding on the 10 past those windmills a few years ago. I couldn't believe how many were idle, I'd guess 70%. Not from lack of wind, the ones that were spinning we're turning fast. The ribbons had been long cut, the politicians and news did their festivities but when the buzz goes away details like maintenance, and actually meeting the promised hype is long forgotten. Paid for, again, by suckers.
