This tragedy comes after Kansas City suffered a record year in homicides in 2023, according to KCUR. Last year, 185 homicides were recorded — the most in its history and surpassing the previous record set in 2020.
Continues to show that law and order is running amok in our society and changes need to be made in the approach to law enforcement.

We saw a decline in the homicide rate in the U.S. from 1993 to 2014. It went up in 2015 and 2016, but dipped down in 2017 and 2018, and was basically level in 2019. Starting in 2020, that rate has shot up. We finally saw a drop in 2023, but it is still way ahead of the pre-pandemic rate.
Forced shutdowns, economic crisis and fear of Covid coupled with the George Floyd defund the police movement ran this country off its 20+ year homicide rate improvement.

More so, the next (de)generation who dressed up themselves as Republicans and turned the party I used to belong to into a hideous parody of the ideals we used to have.
I used to be a Republican, and now it hurts to even say it. It was bad when the bozos under Bush 2 came to lower, and that unleashed the maniacs trying to run the circus now. Petty revenge, fear mongering and outright willful ignorance dominate when it used to be stamped out before. I remember when we were merely hampered by catchphrases and leveraging politics to get things done. Now the GOP in fights, social self destructs and screams absurdities at everyone except the orange Shitgibbon Fuhrer.

As laws become less strict, crime rises. No bail laws only brazen people to think they can get away with anything. Until the punishments fit the crimes, we'll continue to see more and lawlessness.
But it's the guns that are killing.... Nope. Thats just a cowardly excuse for not making punishments have some teeth. How about if you use a gun, get a gun used on you against a wall. If there's no penalties for taking a life, this shit will continue to be the norm.

recently i was a a very popular tourist area
a homeless fellow came wandering up the sidewalk, mumbling shit to eveyone passing by him
he had a machete in his back pack, i told my concerned family members he probably needs it for defense amongst the homeless...but damn that was an eye opening moment.
