He really was the catalyst of helping keep Russia together in the event of Putin's death. He was a strongman/Russian Nationalist in his own way, but Nelvany would have been the stepping stone to a stable democracy in Russia as it re-transitioned away from authoritarianism. Now my only fear is not the collapse of Russia, but how the CCP will move up to Vladivostok citing protection of the Han population in that area (which does outweigh native Russians and aquired by the Russians in the 19th century) and the dozens of Oblasts that will declare independence, opening the region up to CCP exploitation via the One Belt Road. Further, Vladivostok would give Beijing a port that bypasses the sea of Japan and open access to the Pacific. Guadalcanal 2.0 anyone?
