Payoffs are for doing a favor. Blatantly purchasing property while holding the seat is openly doing business to secure his financial future for his family. That is totally illegal and punishable.
We all know politicians get an envelope full of cash under the table. But this is too out there and daring the DOJ to come after you.

@SB, you forgot to mention that the Bidens appear to have received
millions from foreign governments, including China for influence peddling
which is definitely against the law.
It's my understanding that brother Jim will be testifying today in
regards to his questionable business activities. I'm sure he will be asked
why he received millions of dollars without any real business activity.

My deal is, an envelope can be denied, but solid land purchase records filed 2016 thru 2020 cannot be denied.
I understood a sitting president could not deal personal business matters while in office. That's all.
