Took a long time for my sciatica to pass. Just make sure its not a protruding or bulging disc. Mine took a lot of rests and stretching and chiropractor visits. But everyone is different in their recovery
Back in the late 70s I had that. Since I was in a chair all day it was staying inflamed until I was given some pain relief which allowed the swelling to go down.

Stretching help me
Lay on your back. Pull the knee on the side that hurts to your chest. Hold for 20-30 minutes. Repeat as nessessary. The best tip my Chiropractor gave me.
Take 3 Advil or Tylenol
Get a heating pad with the massage balls working out your lower back
Keep heat or even Icy Hot on it too
In a hotel, use the plastic laundry bag, put a layer off ice, cover with towel and lay on it for 15-20 minuted every few hours. Take Advil regularly for a few days.
If it doesn't feel better after a few days go see a real doctor not an HX doctor.

On a serious note:
I have been trained to do some massage therapy using a scraper with special Cream that would probably help. It also breaks down scar tissue.

Do the pissing dog pose
Get on all 4 like a dog
And lift one leg
Ull flex that butt cheek
Then do the other side
thats a pinched nerve
creating inflamation
apply a tigers balm patch to the area and take motrin every 4 hrs
should be gone in a few days
or accupunture

A chiropractor may be able to adjust you

Go to a bar?
Try cupping! It is the best fix!

First off, get a new chair if you spending a lot of time at the computer. Second as said above, stretch, drink lots of water, stretching again, and then stretch some more, Lastly, this works for me, go to a strip mall, find a AMP with a 95lb masseuse that actually knows how to back walk, the good ones know now to follow the nerve from your heel to your head.
Best of luck and don't forget to stretch.

Ice packs work for me. Buy a reusable jel pack on Amazon

Based on the symptoms you are describing it could be Sacro Illiac (SI) Dysfunction. If your pain can be pinpointed in your low back just above your glute around the sacrum. Sorry for the lengthy technical description. If this sounds like your issue.
Search SI Dysfunction, you will get a detailed description of the musculoskeletal (MSK) condition and all the information you need to alleviate your pain.
I hope this helps. Sorry you are experiencing such discomfort.
