I would never intentionally ignore science to support a position I hold or that I seemingly want to maintain. There is no point in being dishonest unless you’re trying to support a crooked political position. Science is based on facts supported by the best information available at a period in time. When the information is clarified or even changes over time, positions must be changed. That’s why 10% of medicine changes over a 10 year period as new information/discoveries are found.

- There is no definitive evidence of the origins of Covid 19 despite theories that it originated from a lab in Wuhan.
- There is no evidence that the U.S./Fauci funded gain of function research at the Wuhan lab and there is certainly no nexus with the origin of Covid 19 (if you believe anything Rand Paul says, you’re a fucking idiot).
- The claim that masks don’t work to prevent Covid 19 is false. Hospitals are still providing masks to patients when there is a Covid 19 outbreak. Do you think they are doing it for fun or that they enjoy wasting money needlessly?
Look, I get it. There is a certain subset of society that believes Elvis is alive and is hanging out with JFK, Jr., that pedos congregate at the basement of a pizza joint in DC, and that the geniuses in these blogs have finally found conspiracy theories that are actually true.

I will disclose some personal information that I have mentioned in the past to illustrate a point.
I have relatives in Orange County that are ultra conservative. I often have heated arguments with them about politics. One of these relatives is highly educated, is married to a doctor, and runs a medical office in OC. Incredulously, she has parroted Covid anti-vax propaganda that I often hear in these blogs.
Another relative, who is a doctor and medical director of a 2,000+ doctor medical group, had a short discussion with her about vaccines.
He later took me to the side and said, "don't ever discuss anything science or medical related with her again. Her politics have clouded her judgment."
Orange County is essentially the Kansas or Louisiana of California. You're in a conservative echo chamber. You are indoctrinated to deny facts, even when it could hurt you and your family.
Does that mean that liberals are always right or that you should trust everything that liberal leaning media claim is true? Of course not. They obviously get it wrong from time to time, but they aren't actively deceiving their followers to their detriment.

I am not claiming to be always right. But I am mostly right when it comes to Covid. For example, does it matter in your treatment if you have cancer largely from your genetics or from the environment? If you treat it holistically like Steve Jobs, you'll likely die from it. If you treat it with the latest generally accepted medical treatments, you'll likely live.
Similarly, you can apportion blame on China all you want, that still doesn't discount that you should follow the latest generally accepted medical advice on how to protect yourself from Covid. That advice is constantly changing as knowledge develops and as the virus mutates.
Also, medicine should never be mixed with politics. Registered Republicans died 43% more frequently than registered Democrats after the vaccines were released. That vaccine hesitancy resulted in 300,000 needless deaths simply because Republicans followed the conservative talking points that they did not know were wrong (see linked Sam Harris podcast).
If they definitively determine the Wuhan's lab released the virus, then China should pay damages to the rest of the world somehow.
I only started participated in the political blogs because of the misinformation and conspiracy theories revolving around Trump and Covid. I get no satisfaction calling people idiots or morons (well, except Goebbels and Rico, two clowns for different reasons). I love this country and I want to people to receive accurate medical information.

The media outlets that picked up Fauci’a testimony that you referenced were largely conservative. Always trying to pin inconsistencies on Fauci/CDC when what they were doing was meant to help save lives. The pathological nature of that criticism really does show the repulsive of far right conservatism. I encourage them to continue to deny science at their peril…thinning the herd of that element is ultimately good for society.
