One that I enjoy is True Crime Daily - They do a weekly newsletter and frequent podcast that covers modern cases and updates on ones that they have covered in the past. Its a great comprehensive place to start if you are interested in the genre.

Some different takes:

Small Town Dicks

Told by ex-cops, there are some really wild stories in here, but more process and not as much mystery. With Yeardly Smith (Lisa Simpson) and Paul Holes who caught the Golden State Killer

Criminal

Crime from a different point of view told by Pheobe "Squarespace.calm" Judge

My favorite is the Buddah story:

I have watched enough true crime shows that I believe I could be a criminal mastermind and never get caught

Beyond actual true crime podcasts, you should watch Only Murders in the Building, a really fun show that revolves around a true crime podcast.

Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez…excellent show that is about to film its 4th season.

@yyzed

That is absolutely correct. They say that prison is nothing more than "crime school" but the advent of all of the these true crime shows is educating the entire population on how to be better at committing a crime.

I suspect that unsolved homicides will have an upward trend.

@Marrisa - It's just like school, most people don't learn and retain the lessons well. So a good thing that there won't be many A students in this field, plus you will have to be mentally different than general population to pull it off, imo.

^ It's amazing how many people try to commit that perfect murder and forget to leave their cell phone at home! Or, too cheap to throw away the clothing they wore when they committed the crime. 25 to life because they couldn't part with those favorite sneakers! Or the best stupidity of all; smoking cigarettes while laying in wait and throwing the butts on the ground.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that they do get caught but their stupidity is just mind-boggling almost to the point of being comical. Self-ejection from the gene pool!
