When he made that comment he was talking about china building a couple of large auto plants in mexico. Their thinking according to trump is that because of nafta they'll be able to export/import their cars to the US with no tariffs. Trump said that 'if he wins' those cars will have a 100% tariff - but only if he wins. If he doesn't win 'it'll be a bloodbath' when it comes to countries exporting to the US and drowning out US made goods.
I'm no trump supporter but at least get the facts straight!

I do agree in spirit with the OP that Trump will try to fill the government with people loyal to him.
This in fact happened a lot in American history with the spoils system that started during American colonial history but finally was changed in 1883 under civil service reform.
Some of our founding fathers did this.
Should we be more worried about Trump doing it than say George Washington? It depends on how Trump will use these people relative to how Washington, Adams, Jefferson, or Jackson did.
I believe Trump has a fascination for autocracy and a pattern of disrespect for the law and may go farther than past Presidents (even Jackson) who may have pushed boundaries but had more of a respect for democracy.and the rule of law.

I’ve recently spoken to a few doctors about Covid. They are still required to be vaccinated every time a booster is released. Since many of you have short memories, the lockdowns were necessary and were lifted when the vaccines were released. It is estimated that 3 million lives were saved by the Covid vaccines and 300,000 lives were lost by vaccine hesitancy.
After the Covid vaccines were released, researchers’ adjusted analysis found that "the excess death rate among Republican voters was 43% higher than the excess death rate among Democratic voters" after vaccine eligibility was opened. See linked article.
So, what is the take home message:
Covid lockdowns were necessary until the vaccines were released.
Once the vaccines were released, Republican excess deaths (more deaths than statistically expected) were 43% higher than Democrat excess deaths. That was purely due to vaccine hesitancy.
The Covid vaccines clearly work.
And, most importantly, the conservatives in these blogs who argued against the lockdowns and vaccines (and continue to do so) are simply fucking idiots.
Was there collateral damage? Of course there was. Pre-adults were adversely affected by the lockdowns. Covid didn’t affect them as badly. But their teachers, parents, and older relatives would have been exposed to the initial strains of Covid, which were very dangerous, and many of those people would have died before the vaccines were readily available.

Yes, the obese were sitting ducks because of Covid, but so were every person who had an underlying health issue. My friend is 38, is thin and athletic, and has an autoimmune disease. He had a high likelihood of deal had he been infected with the earlier strains of Covid.
But beyond that, were the elderly, obese, and health-compromised not worthy of being saved?
