Scientifically, I use the pinch test.
A pinch of alfalfa in one pocket, a pinch of hay in the other. If they immediately identify the smell as I walk in, then they belong to a stable.
Or, simply say, Cedric said you would treat me well. Then she belongs to a stable.

A lot of it is how it's written. Ask your self, would she write like that ? Course it could be a she.
