Unfortunately, in our world today, people are unwilling to actually discuss issues. There are often multiple points of view and they all should be explored. But we are entrenched in our beliefs, and are not willing to even look at facts and data that might support a contrary opinion.
Congress actually used to compromise and take what portions of a bill that were in agreement and pass those components. Now, it is 'my way or the highway' attitude. The fact that just posing a contrary opinion gets you booted shows just how intolerant and uncompromising he is.
If people hadn't been willing to listen to Pythagoras, we might still think the Earth is flat.
If doctors hadn't listened to Ignas Semmelweis, doctors today might still not be washing their hands between procedures, especially associated with maternity.
The scientific method is all about challenging existing hypotheses to either prove or disprove them.
When contrary beliefs are stifled or cancelled, we may continue to follow inaccurate positions.

But I also believe that having political discussions with only like-minded people isn’t wise and often boring. No one will change their political views if they don’t test what they believe against people who argue counter positions.

Ivermectin was studied and was found to have no effect on Covid. Anecdotal evidence from doctors is complete bullshit. Science does not use anecdotal evidence as proof of an efficacy of a drug.
The key witness in the impeachment hearings, who is the one that alleged the $5 million Burisma payment to Biden, admitted that he lied about it and that he received the “information" from Russian intelligence.

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that Dems got is wrong about the Hunter Biden laptop. Does that discount the dozens of times that Republicans have got it wrong? No, it doesn’t.
No matter what you say, Democrats and Republicans are not equally crooked. And the are not equally undemocratic and you all know it.
Polls right now are essentially useless and are not predictive of the outcome in November.
I hope Biden cuts off funding and military supplies to Israel immediately. The Palestinians have suffered enough. Israel is killing people indiscriminately. Beyond American support being clearly wrong, cutting off Israel will improve Biden’s support. It is the right thing to do in every sense.

The only thing I take from this whole Hunter laptop fiasco is that so many liars are involved, probably on both sides, that we will NEVER get to the real truth.
But one thing that comes to mind is this: If Hunter said to Burisma, "If you give me this ($XXX) you will have my father's ear" then what is the difference between that and the hundreds of lobbyist and congressional staffers that roam the halls of the Capital EVERY DAY engaging in the peddling and solicitation of influence. The only difference I see is that these lobbyist keep it in the family (in the U.S.).
Also, keep in mind that Biden was the Vice-President at the time and not even a candidate in the next election cycle. Essentially, he was powerless! The V.P. has no power to do anything except as a tie breaker in the House! He is essentially the President's lapdog waiting to be dispatched to do the President's bidding(1). The VP's only real asset is that he has the ear of the President.
If I were Hunter, my total defense would have been 3 simple words - "What's your point?"

^ You are correct, even if Hunter's attempt at peddling influence is seen as nothing more than what lobbyist and congressional staffers do every day he still has to pay taxes on the money received. But even then, tax evaders don't automatically go to jail so even more influence peddling may go on to keep Hunter free. Most parents would burn the house down to protect their children, and I'll bet Joe is no different.
I have wondered if Hunter didn't do something that would qualify as being an undeclared foreign agent (i.e., General M. Flynn). That would be a whole different can of worms.

And stop calling each other names! When you stoop to that level you undermine your own credibility. The main reason people do that sort of thing (not always, sometimes they are just plain mean) is that they lack sufficient facts to debate their position in a civilized manner.
I have seen it time and time again here, what I would normally consider to be intelligent people trashing their own credibility by confusing debating with verbal bullying.
