Dude.....it wasn't defective. I was the guy standing next to you at the kiosk. I stole the numbers off the card and as soon as you paid, I used it.
Thank you.
I was the guy wearing a green jacket and a blue beanie.

Yea, there has been an uptick in hacked gift cards, likely it wasn't defective but instead stolen.
Cust service cant help because the card has been spent.
You can google for more, but this has been getting recent exposure.
Advice is to use your cards fast and dont sit on them for long, but even then sometimes it's too late.

Let me clarify. It wasn't hacked. The pin number was partially scratched off along with the silver civering strip. Read online that it's been an issue with homedepot gift card.

Customer service at the physical store says the full fund is still available. I can't even use it to buy home improvement stuff cuz during checkout you need to enter the pin.

I have master pins for sale.

had this same issue with an apple card, it took 3 days for apple to fix it, but they fixed it for me.
there should be a number for Home Depot as well, but you might need to get the number for their corporate offices to get to the department or vendor who does their gift cards to get it fixed. good luck

Thieves steal gift cards from stores that are stupid enough not to keep them behind the counter or locked up . They scratch off and get the pin along with the card data. They rub out the last few pin numbers so you cant see or use the card. Then they return the card to the store on their rack and wait for someone to pay and activate it. I guess they monitor daily and when its loaded, they use it.
I got a nike gift card as a secret santa present, and heard about thieves doing this so I tried to use it right away, but couldnt read the last 2 digits of the pin . It was smudged out. I called Nike and they said it's cvs's problem ( that's where the card was purchased. I even had the receipt) Cvs said I had to do a claim with the cvs fraud dept. cvs fraud took my info and said it would take a couple of weeks. I didnt hear from them for awhile. When I called, they said $45 was spent and there was $5 left on the card. Gift card was like money so nothing they could do. They offered to send me a gift card for the remainder but I told them why bother. I wasnt going to get anything at nike for $5. I don't even think they put a block on the card immediately when I called them. That 2 weeks gave the thieves plenty of time to withdraw funds before they acted on it. Fraud depts just don't seem to care about doing their job.
Don't ever buy gift cards unless they are secured behind the counter or locked up or order from amazon. If you get one of these tampered cards, you are probably not going to get the money back.
Just have to wait for the class action law suit because this happens a lot. Maybe they can sue the retailers and say they were selling defective gift cards.

It happens, just try calling them again to get a different representative and they will re-issue you another card. They sent me a new one a few months ago.
