The only sin is self hatred. Some thoughts on god, music and the human experience.
I LOVED this conversation. I found it interesting so felt like sharing.

They don’t talk about god in this podcast but music makes me think about these things.
Anything to fill that existential dread, am I right?
Music does that for me. I don’t know why but it does.
This track in particular: Retrograde (mentioned in the podcast) always really hit.
Felt like it brought me closer to... something. Whatever the fuck that is.

In the interview he says
“my truest self I feel was reflected in that song”

To go along with that is an excerpt from another body of work that has made me think about similar themes.

A passage from Das Energi written by Paul Williams. I will a attach photo below

And then here is a painting that needs no introduction.
I will it attach it as well seeing as I’ve figured out how to use this archaic, social media type platform. (Which i am very grateful for btw)

I enjoy pondering all three of these pieces at once even though I drive myself crazy with their contradictions. I get lost in the insane beauty of it all. I live for it.

Narcissist or savant? That’s up for interpretation but isn’t everything.

Altruism is a made up term to make materialists feel better.

     My shit bang
Drake or Kendrick?
Pshh fuck the big 3
ITS EARL MOTHERFUCKIN STEVENS ALL DAY FOREVER

( Ok I love the big 3 dont come at me ) Its just 40 reigns supreme and is still out here crushing. Actual fr LIVING LEGEND. Just sayin. Get off tik tok and listen to other things then what the algorithm is showing you.

But wait your all old hx people and probably already know this. is this the right audience for this blurb? 😂

Random side note, I met E40 after a show when I was 16 at a venue i volunteered at. my friend and I asked if we could get a pic with him. He was polite, (nice to his fans) but declined and said he respects and honors his wife and doesnt take pictures or hang with fans. He is a good man.

     Bella Baxter
Since I got so many pms about the last movie I recommended and blogged about I thought I might as well make another one. POOR THINGS.

This film deserves all the flowers it received and is one of best I have seen in a long time.

Besides it being a beautiful masterpiece ( the concept the script the set design the costume design the acting the cinematography ect.. ) it felt sentimental to me.

I used to go by the name Bella. That name was chosen for me , not by me. I thought it was basic and did not find it original or personal and grew to resent it.
Now here is this incredible character named Bella that I resonate with on so many levels.

There is one scene in particular when Emma Stones character has a conversation with Mark Ruffalos and says something along the lines of
I am a flawed and experimenting person.
I love that entire scene and dialogue so much I dont even have the words to articulate how much it meant to me.
I no longer resent the fact that I went by the name Bella.

Since Im talking about movie recommendations and Poor Things I might as well add that anything Jerrod Carmichael or Ramy Youssef is involved with is amazing.
I also recommend Ramy and On The Count Of Three both on Hulu.

Forgive my shotty grammar and lack of apostrophes in this blurb. it is easier to just not use them then deal with the weird coding stuff hx requires for blogging

     Down Low
Finally some decent representation in the media! (I guess. I mean Cameron is very intelligent, fully in control of his own life and totally hilarious) The film Down Low is now streaming on Netflix and is one of my favorites so far this year. It is an extremely dark comedy and purposefully distasteful, so not for the faint of heart but I think it is a hoot and downright delicious. It is a you either love it or hate it sort of thing. It is silly and ridiculous but also brilliant. Its theme is overcoming sexual repression, identity repression and breaking free of the stigma pushed on our society by religious dogma. A little bit to on the the nose but I think that is part of what makes it so fun. Its like a twisted, dark and modern take on Pretty Woman full of pop culture references that l ate up like a box of toaster strudels. 10/10 do recommend
I like human p0ppers, I open anyone up

Sexy is a state of mind
I just wanted to share some thoughts and feelings about body positivity since it is a big aspect of this dynamic of meet ups for both men and women.
Women feel the pressure in this industry to live up to ridiculous beauty standards. Sometimes it feels like it is all we are worth in this line of work.

It can be all consuming and destructive feeling at times. We are inundated with photos, shows and commercials of what the effortlessly beautiful and perfect woman looks like. And most of the time, whatever work or treatments they have had done is kept hush hush.
We are always comparing ourselves to other women. Is my waist small enough, are my boobs big enough, is my ass big enough, are my lips, big enough, is my hair long enough. I can go on and on. It doesnt help that there are entire forums dedicated to men rating us on all of these attributes.
At the same time I know men are suffering from this same predicament just on a different scale and in silence.

I worked at a strip club back in the day, it wasnt for me but I learned an incredibly valuable lesson while I was there. I met an amazing woman. She raked in the most money by far, more then anyone else there. Way more then the girls that had the so called perfect bodies. She had a little bit of belly, her titties were kinda lopsided and her booty was flat. But she was SO MUCH FUN. She was kind, she was HILARIOUS, she made everyone feel comfortable and she was a damn good time. I loved and adored her with all my heart as did any man that walked through those doors.
To all the women here FOCUS ON THIS MINDSET. Easier said then done I know, but it is the key to success in this industry. At least thats what Ive come to learn.
And to the men out there I know you struggle with similar judgments it is just less talked about. The best men I have come to love, adore and respect are the ones that appreciate and reciprocate that same energy. If you love yourself, if your are confident and kind to women the world is your oyster. (At least with the women that are actually worth your time and what you deserve)
I want to share a screenshot of something I wrote on this topic back in 2018 giving thanks and appreciation to all the amazing men in my life.
I also want to share a meme of Marilyn that I look at when I am feeling down or self conscious about my body. Ivehad it saved In my phone for years. I look at it and am reminded of the woman I worked with at the club who perfectly embodied this mindset and it lifts my spirits everytime.
The third image is of a book I cant highly recommend enough. Especially for women In this field. My body is not an apology by Sonya Renee Taylor.
Sexiness is a state of mind. Love yourself, own that shit and share this energy with everyone you meet. It pays off and I like to think it also makes the world a better place.
If you got this far thanks for reading°ï¿½ï¿½ï¿½

Fun things to do in the OC?
So I actually havent spent to much time here other then for work and was wanting some recommendations.
One of my best friends from my home town is visiting for a work trip in the oc and I would like to take him out for a good time. He is sober so ideally want to avoid bars. We are in the lgbtq community, we love fashion, street art, fine dining and beautiful nature/hiking spots. Any recommendations greatly appreciated

Samantha Cole on her new book Sx and the Internet
I just listened to a fascinating conversation that I feel people in this community might also find interesting. It was with Dan Savage and Samantha Cole on her new book How sex changed the internet and the internet changed sx: a history
I think it brings up an interesting, more nuanced take on p0rn consumption and opens up a beneficial dialogue. I just bought the book and am looking forward to reading and discussing it!

I listened to this convo on Dan Savages podcast Savage Love episode 847. You have to subscribe for the Magnum subscription to hear the guest speakers with no ads but its only 5$ a month and well worth it! ive been listening to it for years and I highly recommend!

Hope you are all having a happy sundayfunday!
