Those over/unders seem high.

I would take the under on all of those

     Keeping drone strikes in perspective
President Obama authorized 1,121 drone strikes in 2016 alone, killing well over 100 civilians.

I don’t have a problem with a single one.

     Get out
Iraqi Parliment voted to expel US troops because of the killing of Soleimani

Good?

Bad?

What do you think happens next?

Can you think of a movie
where the sequel was as good or better than the original?

I am watching Alien right now. This was a great movie when it came out.
I think Aliens was just as good... if not better.

But I can’t think of any others I feel that way about.

     The game has changed
“If we get word of attacks, we will take pre-emptive action as well to protect American forces, protect American lives. The game has changed.” Mark Esper, US Secretary of Defense

What do you think of “pre-emptive strikes?”

     Do Not Resuscitate
Interesting article about a family wanting to let their father die after heart surgery left him with severe brain damage... but the doctors refused. Some think so that their heart Surgery survival rate wouldn’t take a hit.

     Is anyone else fascinated
by watching the workings of the House of Representatives?

Watching the motions being put on the floor, the actions, the votes... as fucked up as the reason is for having to watch... it’s fascination and a bit awe inspiring.

I’m not talking about the content. I am just referring to the mechanics of it all.

     Does Nancy have the votes?
It’s starting to look shakey!

If she postpones the vote ... you know there is trouble. She will not allow the vote to go forward if she doesn’t have enough. They will surely lose some Dems... but how many?

Republicans seem unified.

Pelosi is usually a better tactician than this. They pushed her into the corner and she gave in. It might really cost her.

I have gone to reading the news
I used to watch the news religiously... but realized I was being indoctrinated and was beginning to rationalize and accept ideas I know are wrong.

The need TV news has almost become obsolete. I watch local news for about an hour each morning.

Network and cable news has become all about opinion.

So now... throughout the day, I’ll read news online and play a little game I call, “What’s the bias?” I try to see if I can spot if they are trying to get me to look at something a particular way.

How much information am I receiving ... and how much opinion about the information am I receiving?

I have found many of the descriptive words being used in articles subtlety reveal an influencing bias.

Anyway... what news sources do you like to read?
