     Comic Con Traffic!
Remind me to never drive downtown during Comic Con again. WHAT A FUCKING MESS! Between the massive crowd (which was generally behaved) and the homeless (which are NOT generally behaved) it was not pretty! Major streets were like parking lots! The only saving grace was sitting in the car, going nowhere fast, and watching people in various costumes walk by. Spiderman looked pretty hot in that tight outfit!

     Trump Confesses - Again!
In an interview with MSNBCs Lawrence ODonnell.

And found this comment on Yahoo News about it:

Trump loves to confess. He makes the best confessions. His confessions are perfect. No one in the history of the world has confessed as beautifully as he has. His confessions are the likes of which the world has never seen. Supporters in the streets come up to him, with tears in their eyes and say "Sir, that was the best confession I ever heard."

It was a PERFECT comment!

DJT always thinks he is the smartest guy in the room! His prior success in bullying local officials in New York has led him to believe that he can talk his way out of anything. His constant cries of "I'm innocent - I didn't do anything wrong!" are nothing more than an attempt to instill bias in the prospective jury pool. DJT is a shyster and a con-man - but I will admit, he is a damned good one!

I will also admit that he did accomplish some things while in office but he also failed in a lot of things that he boldly said he would "fix" (Obama care, the wall, etc.). However, the collateral damage he has done to the entire country, if not the world, is staggering. His continued stroking the flames of his cult has turned Americans against each other. Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela; they don't have go to war with us to destroy us, they can just sit back and watch us destroy ourselves from within.

     Universal Hot/Crazy Matrix
Since we have been discussing how to treat certain activities like a business, I thought this clip from TikTok is a great analytical approach to making value decisions regarding women.

My Way Or The Highway (MWOTH)
What I find rather sobering is when I see something that is supposed to be a joke to be not that funny because it hits home on a visceral level. For me, it is about the effects of intolerance and extremism, and the attached clip pretty much sums it up.

Even though it is obviously a joke, it made me focus on how much divisiveness there is in the world right now, and it is absolutely sickening. It's like people are going way out of their way to hate!

So enjoy the joke, but ask yourself if it truly reflects the world we live in today.

     Time for a little levity
A man wrote a letter to a small hotel he planned to visit on his vacation:

"I would very much like to bring my dog with me. He is well-groomed and very well behaved. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room with me at night?"

An immediate reply came from the hotel owner, who said, "I've been operating this hotel for many years. In all that time, I've never had a dog steal towels, bedclothes, silverware or pictures off the walls. I've never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And I've never had a dog run out on a hotel bill. Yes, indeed, your dog is welcome at my hotel. And, if your dog will vouch for you, you're welcome to stay here, too."

     Communication Perceptions
I am pretty quick to remind people that it doesn't matter what you say, or even mean to say - it's how it is perceived that counts. Basic communication failures probably account for over 50% of the "he said - she said" types of conflicts we see here. In an effort to not sound like a broken record I need to find different ways of getting the point across, so I think the following joke might help!

This woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day. One day, when he came to, he motioned for her to come nearer. As she sat by him, he whispered, eyes full of tears, "You know what? You have been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you were there to support me. When my business failed, you were there. When I got shot, you were by my side. When we lost the house, you stayed right here. When my health started failing, you were still by my side... You know what?"

"What dear," she gently asked, smiling as her heart began to fill with warmth.

"I think you're bad luck....."

     Powers of Obeservation
I will apologize in advance if the following joke assaults anyone's sensitivities, but it is so damn funny (read: belly laugh) I couldn't resist:

An autopsy professor was giving an introductory lecture to a class of students. Standing over a corpse, he addressed the class. 'There are two things you need to make a career in medical forensics. First, you must have no fear.' Having said that, he shoved a finger up the corpse's anus, withdrew it, then licked it. 'Now you must do the same,' he told the class.

After a couple of minutes of uneasy silence, the class did as instructed.

'Second,' the professor continued, 'you must have an acute sense of observation. For instance, how many of you noticed that I put my middle finger up this man's anus, but licked my index finger?'

Whether you believe in conspiracy theories or not, this is a good read. Makes me think that some of you guys are not so "far out there" after all.

     Book Burning
What are the similarities between the history of book burning (censorship) and today's "anti-woke" movement?

I am not in agreement with a TOTAL rewrite of history. In any human conflict, the history is written by the victors and is almost always biased; so I am also not opposed to anyone who wishes to provide an alternate view of history. We are adults, with the capacity to analyze and decide the issues of today based on many different views and channels of information. For someone else, especially the government (or a podcast), to decide for us what is the truth and what we should read or believe is nothing more than thinly veiled TOTALITARIANISM.

I have attached an article on the History of Book Burning. Read it by changing (in your mind) the words Jew to "Woke", Germany to U.S., and "Nazi" to "MAGA."

The most intriguing part of this article was at the end, questions regarding the material covered:

1) If Jews were the principal target during the Holocaust, why were books written by non-Jewish authors burned? (Hint: because they didn't agree with party line, which was the real goal. Totalitarianism was the goal - Jews were just a convenient justification, and deflection)

2) How did the German public react? What was reaction like outside of Germany? (Hint: complacency played a key role)

3) Why do oppressive regimes promote or support censorship and book burning? Why might this be a warning sign for mass atrocity? (no hint - decide for yourself, but it should be pretty obvious)

4) How can knowledge of the events in Germany and Europe before the Nazis came to power help citizens today respond to threats of genocide and mass atrocity in the world? (my thoughts and my words - reject extremism, both religious and secular, in every evil form that it exists)

I would like for this to be a polite discussion about the subject. Who will be the first one to break ranks (because you know they will)?

     President Carter in Hospice Care
He was a mediocre president but his work with Habitat for Humanity made him a legend in his own time. 98 years old! Now that is a good run!
